About the Role
Here at the Bank of Queensland Group, which includes ME Bank and Virgin Money Australia, we are on the lookout for a Head of Retail Bank Compliance expert to join our newly created function.
The role is responsible for providing independent review, advice and challenge of initiatives, issues and incidents in the Retail Bank to ensure it’s compliance with financial services obligations.
You will be responsible for the following key activities:
- Engaging with stakeholders across the Retail Bank to understand proposed and in-flight initiatives, incidents, issues, and to provide independent reviews and advice to ensure they are compliant with relevant financial services obligations, including the National Consumer Protection Credit Protection Act, ASIC Act, Corporations Act and ASIC Regulatory Guides;
- Improving the quality and effectiveness of processes and controls across the Retail Bank to ensure compliance;
- Helping the Retail Bank assess and implement regulatory changes;
- Building strong, constructive, open and transparent relationships with Retail Bank colleagues;
- Helping to drive a strong compliance culture across the Retail Bank;
- Engaging with other teams within the Compliance function to ensure that Compliance initiatives such as frameworks, policies and processes, are effectively designed, communicated, implemented and embedded;
- Helping to drive strong engagement across the Compliance Function;
- Helping Compliance achieve its Purpose and Ways of Working.
About you
To be successful for the role, you will have the following experience and skillsets:
- Strong, detailed knowledge and understanding of financial services obligations including the National Consumer Protection Credit Protection Act, ASIC Act, Corporations Act and ASIC Regulatory Guides;
- Deep experience working in and supporting retail bank businesses, products and services;
- Knowledge of risk and control methodologies, and control design, testing and effectiveness;
- Have the ability to build strong, constructive relationships with key stakeholders across the group;
- An analytical and pragmatic approach to robust compliance;
- People leadership experience, driving engagement and building a values driven culture;
- Prior financial services experience is a must-have to understand the complexities of a regulatory driven organisation.
