The Role & Your Responsibilities
The Manager, Business Continuity Management (BCM) provides operational support and advice to RMIT on the business resumption controls needed to ensure the efficient and ongoing operation of the University, following a disaster or significant business disruption.
The Manager, BCM is responsible for the building and maintenance of the crisis recovery playbooks to support event-scenarios that may impact the global operation of RMIT. This will include business impact assessments, recovery strategy selection, coaching departments in the creation and updating of their recovery plans and conducting formal test exercises. This position will support the business, in the event of disaster, by coordinating the execution of relevant recovery plans.
The Manager, BCM works collaboratively within a team of business stakeholders, risk champions, information security and risk control professionals including RMIT’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Chief Risk Officer (CRO). The role will achieve continuous improvements through leadership, technical expertise and demonstration of excellent written and verbal communication capabilities.
Skills & Experience Required
- Extensive experience with large scale Business Continuity Management, Emergency Management and / or Crisis Management
- Extensive knowledge of BCM best practices, industry standards and local / global regulatory requirements
- Proven experience in the development, execution of BCM methodology, including rapid business impact analysis, recovery strategy selection, plan development / implementation and testing
- Exceptional teamwork abilities and a demonstrated capacity to work collegiately and collaboratively with others or as a sole contributor
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to persuade and influence using thought leadership
- Demonstrable expertise in the acceleration of impact analysis, business prioritisation and recovery plan development
- Demonstrable experience in the uplift of BCM culture within the organisation
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders
