About the Opportunity
This is a great opportunity to move from clinical practice to support the in-house Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to drive consistency of medical opinions across underwriting and claims. As the Medical Officer you will be responsible for providing medical opinion on individual underwriting and claims cases, simplifying complex information for the teams.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Individual underwriting and claim case opinion and guidance – including liaison with treating doctors where required
- Reinsurance liaison regarding specific cases where medical opinion is required
- Assisting in development of medical training programs and content
- Working as an integral part of the in house medical services team
- Providing relevant data to support underwriting and claims opinions
- Working with the CMO regarding utilisation of the external referral panel of medical specialists
- Supporting the CMO in providing regular product medical definition review to ensure that due diligence and compliance requirements are met
- Where required to, support the provision of appropriate medical data to support pricing assumptions
- Where required to, support underwriting and claim philosophies, guideline structure and development
- Working within the broader Health team to guide health strategy across the TAL business including Health Sense, health processes and overall health proposition
- Supporting and provide technical medical support for new product initiatives
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A medical degree with current Australian medical registration
- Experience in clinical practice ideal
- Good stakeholder management capabilities.
- Negotiation skills and experience resolving complex issues
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and influence at underwriter and claims case manager level
