TAL recently announced an exciting new acquisition which will bring together a portfolio of well-established Australian brands. The acquisition will significantly expand TAL’s market leading presence in Australia and will provide expanded opportunities for its business and its people. Importantly, it will also ensure we continue to deliver the best possible outcomes for our customers, partners and stakeholders.
To ensure a smooth transition, the acquisition requires a strategic integration and change program, which involves a number of key roles.
As a Technology Lead, you will be responsible for guiding and enabling a team of technology professionals to take accountability for their delivery, risks issues and dependencies. The role works closely with the Technology Delivery Manager, Platform Owners and other TAL IT teams to manage dependencies and clear impediments to effective scope, solution, deliver and test to enable and timely delivery.
What you’ll achieve:
- Manage a team of developers responsible for delivery of projects in relation to the acquisition
- Manage business communication and escalations
- Co-ordinate design and development of all project deliverable’s including SDLC methodologies
- Supervise and guide various members of the programming development team to ensure projects are completed on time within the specified requirements
- Ensure project deliverable quality is of a high standard
- Establish timeframes on estimated development times for development projects
- Develop applications per specified requirements
- Assist managers in ensuring all projects continue in an appropriate and effective manner
- Undertake research and development to highlight new development techniques and technologies that may be beneficial to further enhance and improve current development projects
- Implement programming standards and procedures
- Set and measure KPIs and Objectives for development staff
- Coordinate and manage resource allocation within your team and nominated projects.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong technical background, ideally having worked for 5+ years in complex technology environments
- Good understanding of the life insurance, investments and superannuation business domains
- Strong .NET / MS SQL Server experience and capabilities
- Exposure to MS Azure or similar platforms
- Experience with core life insurance policy administrations systems – particularly Life400 – is advantageous, as is experience with specialised life insurance systems such as Fineos (claims), Sonata (investments products) and underwriting rules engines
- Proven ability to delegate and effectively manage a team
- Experience in prior integrations resulting from acquisition or divestment activity
- Experience in managing and building effective working relationships at all levels across technology – particularly architects and platform owners – and the business.
- Experience working with technology vendors and partners
- Commitment and passion for lifelong learning of new environments, technologies and trends
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible, adaptive and resilient in a fast changing environment.
- Proven capacity to work under pressure and deliver to contractual commitments
