We are seeking a Constructor Operative to join our Network Construction & Services Business Unit within Telstra Operations on a 6 month fixed term contract.
This role will be based in Chatswood and will work on a shift roster and you must therefore be willing and able to work flexibly outside of normal business hours including public holiday, weekends and week nights.
In your role as a Constructor Operative, you will be the first point of contact for Telstra’s Strategic sites, ensuring both Telstra’s Network Integrity and positive Customer Experience are maintained at all times. You will be required to provide technical support through analysing complex systems where a high level of diagnostic skill is required.
What will you bring to the role?
For this role we are seeking someone with a telecommunication certification that is level 3 or higher and or equivalent practical telecom industry experience. On top of this, you will be a great communicator, with a strong sense of urgency, whose skills will translate into your effective handling of issues and queries. You must be able to effectively describe and report on a situation or action post an event for continual process improvement.
Your key responsibilities and major tasks include, but not limited to:
- Maintain network integrity at all times.
- Follow processes in regards to contacting the GOC and Recall Centre’s.
- Follow the established Network Spares process.
- Be able to identify rack locations and equipment types.
- Have knowledge of equipment handling procedures.
- Under guidance of the Global Operations Centre (GOC) power up and down various network equipment types.
- Be able to operate test equipment such as a video scope for optical inspection, OTDR, a multimeter.
- Fully versed in fibre cleaning and checking processes.
Whilst undertaking 24/7 shift roster activities, there may be a requirement to undertake project related activity. This will be at the discretion of local Team Managers or Leading Operatives. 24/7 activity will always take precedent over any assigned project work.
