Job Title: Senior Tecnical Specialist- Voice Core IMS

Position Summary

The successful candidate will be required to act as a subject matter expert in the Integration & Maintenance Engineering team which is responsible for the testing and integration of new releases of software, hardware and services into the Optus network. The holder will primarily work in Voice IME but may be asked to work in other areas of the Optus network if the need arises. The primary platforms the applicant is expected to work on include but not limited to Ericsson IMS/SDM (Including HLR, HSS and CUDB), Nokia MSS & MGW, Genband C20, SS7 Sigtran and Diameter signalling systems (Oracle Eagle STP and Oracle DSR). The applicant should also have a working knowledge of NFVI, test tools and IP networks. A high emphasis will be placed on the applicants programming skill and skill in the area or test automation.

The position holder is also responsible for providing Tier 3 Technical Support for the above platforms and services as well as participating in action register meetings and assist in managing vendors specifically with faults and integration deliverables. This work will involve late night and weekend work.

Key Responsibilities

Key accountabilities for this job role and requirements a job applicant must be able to satisfy include:

• Tier 3 faults and maintenance support to Business Network and Consumer Operations and Engineering for various Consumer, OB and OW products.
• Provide a Subject Matter Expertise role for the relevant technology area.
• Prime for new product testing and integration into the production network, including vendor management for resolution of all software deficiencies prior to deployment.
• Co Ordinate production network cutover procedures ensuring minimal customer impact and including seamless network rollback activities if required.
• Overall ownership of various products in relation to Operations.
• Reduce downtime/outages on production elements by ensuring best practices and supported software configurations are in-use.
• Perform software and hardware upgrades on production elements.
• Perform testing on new software and hardware elements.
• Reduce time to deliver projects, products, feature ad upgrade by automating repetitive tasks.
• Investigate and deploy new features or designs that will improve the efficiency of existing infrastructure.
• Develop well-prepared, accurate engineering network design and testing documentation.
• Provide recommendations regarding future technology and strategy to the Platform Owner and Architecture groups.

Experience and Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in telecommunications. Both depth and breadth of technical experience is required. This should include extensive experience in a technical role in one or more of the following areas: IMS /SDM, NFVI, Voice over IP, IP Networking, 3/4G Mobile Network Technologies. Programming and automation.
• 2+ years’ experience in a telecommunications operations group responsible for Tier 2 fault diagnoses, troubleshooting and restoration of network elements.
• Good understanding of Optus operations roles, procedures and day to day activities.
• Understands and can diagnose customer complaints
• Major fault management across multiple platforms
• Clearly communicate and present ideas and information to GM level
• Experience in liaising with middle and senior management
• Skills on Ericsson IMS / SDM technologies and able to perform Upgrade, update, execution of plans and acceptance projects in network environment.
• Skills on Nokia MSS and MGW technologies and able to perform Upgrade, update, execution of plans and acceptance projects in network environment.
• Skills on Oracle STP and DSR technologies and able to perform Upgrade, update, execution of plans and acceptance projects in network environment.
• Experience in Configuration management and Troubleshooting with ability to analyse issues using probes and vendor tools to identify and reported issue
• Experience Ericsson HLR/HSS/CUDB and IMS platforms interworking
• Experience and knowledge of SS7, Sigtran and Diameter signalling and interpreting results. Includes use of Protocol Analysers.
