Job Description

As a Strategy Manager in the Customer Experience Journey team your role is to provide strategic recommendations to Abcam’s commercial teams which drive short-term improvements and longer-term transformation of customer experiences.

Reporting to the Director of Customer Experience Journey, the role sits in a Commercial Strategy and Customer Insight function within Abcam’s Marketing organisation. You will work closely alongside Marketing, Sales, Service and Digital to make recommendations on strategies which are based in customer, market and competitor intelligence.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic growth environment and aspires to be a leader in the life science industry. The role requires someone who is customer-oriented, commercially-minded and able to work cross-functionally to develop and drive strategic recommendations.

Key responsibilities are:

  • Work with stakeholders across Marketing, Sales, Service and Digital commercial teams to identify tactical and strategic opportunities for improving, and ultimately transforming, customer experiences
  • Work with Consumer Insights and Market Research experts within the team, as well as stakeholders outside the team and org, to commission, execute and analyse primary research to answer questions from, and generate strategic insights for, stakeholders
  • Produce comprehensive reports and viewpoints on Abcam’s external market, including strategic recommendations on how and whether to capitalise on new opportunities
  • Build expertise on Abcam’s competitors and their approaches to new and adjacent markets through both primary and secondary research
  • Create confident, engaging presentations with compelling recommendations to support stakeholders in forming short- and long-term strategies, and empower them to make confident, data-driven decisions
  • Work closely with the rest of the team to develop and share compelling insights about Abcam’s customers, competitors and market


Education, Training & Qualifications - Essential

  • Minimum BA or BSc in any subject, qualification in a biological sciences discipline is a plus
  • Masters or PhD in biological sciences discipline is a plus
  • MBA or Marketing Qualification is a plus

Experience – work, research, voluntary, other – Essential

  • Proven track record of strong business impact, either with consulting experience or practical experience in relevant areas such as Strategy, Marketing and Commercial
  • Demonstrable experience in development and execution of strategic recommendations; able to demonstrate personal impact on stakeholder decisions and projects
  • Proven ability to quickly grasp and work with technical or scientific concepts
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 10%
