B30 Senior Analyst - Global Data Insights
Business Unit Description
We are looking to hire an Senior Analyst of Global Data Insights within the Global Commercial Services (GCS) International division at American Express. GCS is the global leader in providing payments, expense management, and financing solutions for businesses. B2B Strategy team is charged with defining the long-term B2B objectives, setting businesses priorities, and driving growth for Small, Medium Enterprises (SME) and Large, Global Enterprises by partnering with local market teams. This team works closely centrally and locally with American Express’s merchant and network businesses to execute the aforementioned.
GCS employs more than 2,500 colleagues, located in more than 25 offices around the world.
This role will centrally own global analytics capabilities around internal and external data insights for Large & Global segment to establish strategy & prioritization rooted in data rationale. This role will also focus on connecting various strategic initiatives across both L&G and SME segments to identify synergies. This individual will report to the Senior Manager of B2B Strategy & Execution in providing important awareness around internal data insights, market nuances, emerging trends and players.
Key Responsibilities:
- Centrally analyze market data, nuances and metrics to identify growth opportunities and determine drivers generating momentum and key pain points hindering growth to provide strategic direction to the GCS and GMNS business
- Develop presentations and points of view summaries to support enhanced decision making, telling a data driven narrative, presenting analysis of factual baselined data and turning data into focused management information
- Capture data insights from various supplier payments initiatives to leverage for Large & Global segment
- Work in close partnership with the Data Analytics team to develop innovative, customized and automated business insights solutions in the long term
- Help monitor progress of strategic initiatives vs. defined KPIs with regular reporting and reviews and support maintenance of lagging & leading KPIs as required
- Prepare business performance reviews and support ad hoc client, industry, competitive analytics

Qualifications
- Strong SQL, Excel, Cornerstone skills essential with confidence in working between multiple data sets
- Fluency with visualization tools (Tableau, QlikView, Power BI, etc.) preferred
- Strong analytical and numeric skills, excellent attention to detail
- Business writing skills including framing, story telling & distilling complex data down into digestible format
- Strong organizational and time management skills; flexibility, ability to track, prioritize requests and multi-task
- Be able to understand how data driven strategic initiatives contribute to team strategy
- Exceptional professional communication skills – clear, logical, and structured
- The ability to thrive in fast-paced environments while being flexible and able to handle rapidly changing scenarios; someone who sees ‘ambiguity’ as an opportunity rather than a hurdle
- Adaptable interpersonal skills, high energy, and a proven team-first mentality
- Experience in the Payments/B2B space preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
