American Express’ Global Commercial Services (GCS) business offers a wide range of card and payment programs, expense management tools, consulting services, business financing and cross-border payments solutions to small businesses, mid-sized companies, and large corporations around the world.

The Product Management team within Supply Chain Solutions and Partnerships (SCSP) operates as an agile FinTech group within the broader organization to develop solutions and digital products for multiple growth segments of American Express. Specifically, we lead the supplier payments product strategy to build outstanding B2B digital solutions for Large & Global buyers and their suppliers.

How will you make an impact in this role?

The team is seeking a Senior Product Manager to drive Platform Operations efforts across our products in the Global & Large (G&L) space. Offered in 10+ markets and expected to grow to $31B+ volume in 2023, the products BIP and Early Pay are B2B Large & Global payment products that can streamline Accounts Payables processing and reconciliation while generating cash flow. This role will focus on driving the stability of our current platforms given the high-priority customer segment on them. Included in this work is the need to understand our customer’s usage of our products intricately in order to define capabilities required in a future state model on both proprietary and partnership platforms across all SCS markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Significant experience in Product Management or Operations
  • Good knowledge of B2B payments and associated customer needs
  • Develop and implement go-to-market strategy in partnership with marketing, product development and the field, including the creation of marketing collateral
  • Develop deep understanding of customer needs and insights to inform growth opportunities, as well as a point of view on the competitive landscape and industry trends
  • Experience in leading large-scale migrations of customers and working with internal stakeholders to drive prioritised outcomes is desirable
  • Analyse market opportunities to identify the addressable opportunity associated with key customer insights, creating business cases and strategy documents to drive product agenda
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to build and refine detailed customer needs
  • Positive relationship management abilities across a diverse network, including collaborating with and influencing partners both in-person and virtually
  • Ability to influence and lead stakeholders, business and project partners without direct authority
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset that accepts change and is adaptable to a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Build close relationships with multiple internal stakeholders and external partners, being the connective tissue across teams to unlock and drive product billings
  • Experience in supply chain finance and/or receivables finance, FinTech or digital payments platform/provider preferred

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proactive, self-starter with a growth mindset and outstanding project management skills.
  • Experience in solving complex business challenges, showing the initiative required to figure out solutions and navigate ambiguity to chart a path forward.
  • Evidenced teamwork and influencing skills with demonstrable experience leading or working with cross-functional teams.
  • Deliver results in an environment that requires coordination and alignment across multiple teams, including Global Product Management/Development, Sales, Partnerships, Servicing, Operations, Legal & Compliance, among others.
  • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely to audiences at all levels, including to Senior Product and Commercial leadership.
  • Customer-focused approach with consistent record of translating customer and marketplace understanding into best-in-class and economically viable solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of working into B2B payments and familiarity with Supply Chain Finance
