International Insurance is a key driver of Pre-tax Income for all countries outside US working with insurance companies to offer highly valued insurances to Cardmembers across the proprietary markets. It drives the cost-efficient provision of No Additional Charge (NAC) insurances to Cardmembers across international markets. Additionally, The International Central Insurance Team partners with market teams and is responsible for driving Product and Distribution Strategy, structuring, leading Proprietary NAC insurance portfolios, Risk Financing/Reinsurance, and the Insurance Control Environment.
The VP role will lead the Insurance business, drive a strong and effective control environment, working closely between functional compliance, operational excellence groups and the local markets teams; champion the digital transformation of insurance acquisition and customer service and build a long-term profitable growth strategy for insurance revenues through insurance commissions and reinsurance.
In addition, the VP role will take the lead in handling the Fee and NAC portfolios and driving the quality of services provided by third party insurance partners. The successful candidate will lead a sizeable team.
Quality Assurance
Quality Assurance is the foundation of our function, ensuring that our sales practices are robust and compliant to international and market local regulations, living up to AMEX standards and that our partners are providing excellent service to our Cardmembers.
Products & Services
Our Product and Service portfolio strategy is focused on digital first acquisition, consistent digital servicing, a refocus on controlling costs post Covid and further de-risking of low value portfolios.
- Lead/ create the framework for all new product development, product, partner and channel changes and low value product discontinuation.
- Product Implementation: Working with local markets, insurance partners and central team to understand the product proposition, select the insurance partner and support pricing and implementation discussions.
- Lead/ Improve processes designed to improve financial performance of Fee and Non additional charge portfolios
Marketing & Communications
We have invested substantially in our digital first assets across the Fee and Non additional business and an effective marketing strategy to build awareness, engagement, fee sales conversions and NAC service usage is critical. Internal colleague communication is key to maintaining the insurance community and building support across the wider business.
Analytics & Insights
Analytics across Fee and NAC insurance is a key foundation for understanding how our business is performing, changes we can make to improve performance and how changes in the Card business will affect us. Analytics is critical to management of reinsurance and building the Amexco portfolio in a secure way.

Partner Management
