The Acquisition Centre of Excellence team (‘ACE’ team) sits within the International Card Services Centre of Excellence (ICS COE), which recently brought together American Express Consumer and Commercial International Issuing businesses to operate within a single business unit, led by the President of International Card Services. Our mission is to fuel our growth engine by optimizing investment decisions, unlocking efficiencies from our combined businesses, and creating a cohesive global acquisition community, enabling our market partners around the world.
The role of Manager – ICS Acquisition Investment Strategy & Optimization will report into Director – ICS Acquisition Strategy & Investment Optimization. This role will be responsible for working alongside the Director to oversee and re-imagine our acquisition investment engine, optimizing for efficiency and ROI, to ignite the next frontier of growth for AXP.The scope of this role includes supporting on defining a strategy and roadmap to enhance our Investment Optimization (I/O) ecosystem in close partnership with Finance, Risk, EDDS, Analytics and our Market partners. In addition, this person will lead strategic multi-market acquisition initiatives that can drive both short term and long-term efficiency benefits such as our prospect offer strategy, drive channel strategy with our central partners, and inform our collective investment strategy.
How will you make an impact in this role?

Lead key multi-market strategic initiatives such as our Offer / LTO strategy, co-creating testing plans with market partners, and implementing best in breed practices and new standards in partnership with local markets

Benchmark our I/O process internally with market partners and externally to surface opportunities to optimize our approach to drive more efficient/agile investment decisions

Define a strategy and roadmap to optimize our I/O strategy, recommending upstream and downstream improvements to drive better investment decisions in the near and long term

Drive channel strategy (e.g. Paid Search, Media) with our central partners

Support annual and regular I/O planning processes, lead insights reviews with market partners, Finance, and senior ICS leadership

Evaluate ongoing performance of existing investments, generate market/channel/product level insights, and surface trade-offs that challenge the status quo

Develop a robust communications plan and ecosystem between market acquisition teams, Finance, and other key partners to ensure transparency and clarity
Minimum Qualifications:

Strategic thinker who can synthesize complex dynamics, isolate key questions, structure and organize work to analyse and propose solutions to solve key business challenges.

Proven ability to build strong relationships, influence senior leaders and stakeholders, collaborate across a cross-functional team, and build followership

Comfort operating in ambiguity with proven capability to efficiently synthesize sources of information, create structure, simplify, and adapt

Highly curious & analytical individual who craves data to surface insights and inform and develop business strategy

Impactful and efficient communicator with ability to simplify complex messages into clear and actionable recommendations and confidently deliver to executive level audiences
