This position is London based position reporting to the Strategic Acquisition Direction. The UK Strategic Acquisition team is focused on signing mid-market and large strategic prospects in the B2C sector for American Express Card acceptance. This position will actively support the Strategic Sales Director and the Acquisition Teams that report into the Strategic Sales Director (Strategic Sales Team, National Sales Team, Field Sales Team, Implementation Team and the Telesales and Ecommerce Sales based in Madrid).
This individual will be responsible for:
- Working closely with the business and our third party, The Smart Cube, this individual will lead research into priority industries and geographies where Amex want to improve merchant acceptance. The research will provide detailed insight into the industry / geography as well as identifying new merchant prospect opportunities.
- This individual will work to clean and verify new prospect lists and allocate new merchant opportunities to the Sales Managers in line with the allocation rules.
- The individual will monitor progress and velocity of prospects through sales managers pipelines through the creation of Merchantforce Campaign Dashboards.
- Conduct periodic review of sales pipelines to ensure that prospects are being actively worked and prioritised by sales managers.
- Management and maintenance of key lists including Top 50 UK Prospects, UK Coverage List, the Bounty List, 31 National Chains List etc.
- Support the Director and Team Leaders deliver and execute key strategic coverage projects.
- Track Exception ‘Custom’ Pricing approvals across the team and flag when approved term sheets are due to expire.
- Coordinate monthly UK Coverage List updates from all GMS stakeholders and support monthly presentation to UK GMNS Market Head.
- Supporting creation of precise, high impact, professional PowerPoint presentations, for BUR’s and updates to senior leaders.
- Coordinate and lead the Strategic Acquisition Reward & Recognition Program, soliciting nominations from the team, identifying category winners and submitting awards requests.
- Manage the relationship with third parties where Amex acquire data or licences to support coverage and insights.
Minimum Qualifications
- Good technical and analytical skills are a requirement.
- Advanced Excel skills are a distinct advantage. Where this is a gap, this individual will be expected to quickly upskill. Ability to manipulate and update data in reports & spreadsheets, including V-look ups and creation of pivot tables.
- Excellent attention detail. Must be able to produce high quality output for review by senior leaders that show prospecting opportunities and business trends. Ability to identify and highlight key trends in data, spot errors and discrepancies.
- The candidate will need good financial acumen and numeracy and will be expected to demonstrate excellent written skills.
- This individual must be a clear and concise communicator and be able to present in team meetings and to senior leaders as required.
- Excellent organizational skills are needed as the candidate will be operating in a fast-paced environment and need to proactively manage a diverse range of tasks with the ability to prioritise and deliver against deadlines.
- Highly self-motivated and enthusiastic, quick to learn, enjoys challenges and problem solving. Must be able to work and problem solve independently and not be afraid to speak up, offer alternative points of view and challenge when necessary.
- Outgoing, curious and confident; must be prepared to work to proactively establish a broad network of contacts across the GMS business, understanding individuals’ roles and responsibilities and utilising these contacts when necessary to get the job done.
- A flexible, pro-active approach to work is essential as well as the ability to adapt to change! This individual plays a pivotal role in the team supporting a wide range of initiatives and individuals.
