American Express is hiring a Director Assistant (Chief of Staff) in the Colleague Experience Group (CEG), formerly Human Resources (HR). This role supports the Senior Vice President, Colleague Services. This SVP leads a team responsible for our enterprise Colleague Servicing, Product, Data and Insights and Systems Management functions.The Colleague Services team is a global team of ~335 colleagues.

The Director will play an important role in working across the team on core initiatives, implementing CEG processes, and projects that are impactful to the business; enabling Colleague Services to deliver on the CEG vision of delivering a great colleague experience and developing new ways to unlock Enterprise value.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Provide strategic support and process management for a broad range of initiatives and projects including overall Colleague Services strategy and goals definition, organizational change, talent management, annual CEG processes and creation of presentations for Executive audiences.
  • Collaborate closely with various partners across the enterprise including but not limited to CEG Colleague Strategic Partners, other CEG Centers of Excellence, Corporate Affairs and Communications, Finance and other partners to ensure alignment on relevant decisions and projects
  • Act as a central point of contact for urgent business priorities and initiatives
  • Lead the Colleague Services team communications plan
  • Lead special ad hoc projects, including project managing changes to the company flexible working program
  • Manage and participate in key meetings including organizing meetings, developing objectives and material, coordinating follow-ups, etc
  • Represent the team on broader CEG related activities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Exceptional qualitative and quantitative problem-solving skills (issue identification, problem structuring, analysis, financial acumen, development of recommendations)
  • The ability to use data to develop insights, make decisions, create solutions and drive continuous improvement
  • Business acumen and strategic thinking: understand our business and CEG strategy, plans, and the impact of internal and external factors
  • Have exemplary written and verbal communication skills, including strong Microsoft office skills including PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to learn quickly, work optimally with little direction, and be willing to take the lead where appropriate
  • Ability to build strong relationships, collaborate with senior leadership, business partners and across the CEG
  • Be a highly motivated self-starter who is able to drive results and get things done in a self-directed manner, with excellent organizational skills and careful attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate the highest levels of integrity and the ability to navigate critical matters
  • A commitment to continuous learning demonstrated through education e.g. a Bachelor’s degree, followed by approximately 5 years of related experience
