Global Merchant Services (GMS) aims to grow American Express card acceptance across small & large businesses by acquiring new Merchants and deepening relationships with existing Merchants. GMS Marketing aims to drive value to Amex-accepting merchants by connecting them with our global Cardmember base through innovative marketing solutions.

The EMEA Field Visits team operates a field Marketing program across 12 markets in Europe. We facilitate face-to-face interactions with newly acquired Small Merchants (SMBs) to drive value-add engagements across our European Small Merchant base. Our aim is to drive additional Amex spend in these Merchants by connecting them with our Cardmembers through the placement of marketing material.

The program is delivered by a 3rd party vendor and plays a key role in the overall Amex Small Merchant onboarding journey. Program strategy is defined by the EMEA Field Visits team and we also partner with colleagues across GMS (Marketing, Acquisition, Partnerships etc) to ensure alignment to overall GMS strategy. This includes high-visibility campaigns and transformational initiatives such as Shop Small and UK & European PayFac expansion. The Visits Program is used as a key Merchant communication channel.

How will you make an impact in this role?
This Marketing Executive will play a key role in the success of the EMEA program by leading the day-to-day relationship with the external vendor and partnering with internal stakeholders. This role offers direct hands-on Partnership management experience in a fast-moving environment. There are opportunities to build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, oversee program compliance and provide data-driven insights to drive program enhancements.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing day-to-day relationship with external Visits vendor including campaign delivery, driving innovation & efficiencies in program performance
  • Development of innovative field marketing assets and agent training models, partnering with external vendors/agencies and internal Marketing teams to optimise Merchant engagement
  • End-to-end ownership of compliance & auditing processes, including defining & implementing new internal processes, auditing results and ongoing process enhancements with external vendor(s)
  • Take the lead and contribute to regular internal updates with GM-level stakeholders across Europe and regional Visit Program Team counterparts
  • Own relationship with Global Merchant Analytics and lead end-to-end data management for Visits program, from merchant targeting to monthly stakeholder reporting

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong relationship management with proven ability to leverage relationships effectively across a matrix organisation
  • External vendor/partner management experience a plus
  • Strong compliance mindset with an ability to identify gaps in processes and implement solutions
  • Highly organised with the ability to proactively manage multiple ongoing projects/initiatives
  • Comfortable with dealing with changing business priorities
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to synthesise a large amount of data into clear business objectives
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel & PowerPoint
  • Previous experience of GMS business and solid understanding of key business drivers preferred
