Digital Labs is a high impact group within American Express with a mission to build on Amex’s legacy of reinvention to lead innovation in FinTech and create products that make a difference in our customers’ lives. How will you make an impact in this role?

As a Senior Associate Product Manager, you will work with colleagues in the U.S. and U.K. to support how we leverage AI and data to drive more personalized and engaging user experiences. You will contribute to ensuring that the recommendation engine aligns with business goals and delivers strong customer outcomes across multiple products. You’ll partner closely with cross-functional teams to monitor performance, support model refinement, and help drive data-informed enhancements.

This is a highly collaborative and cross-functional role, working in close partnership with key stakeholders in Engineering, Decision Science, Ventures, as well as Labs Business Development & Product Enablement teams.

Keys responsibilities

  • Develop a solid understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning concepts, with hands-on experience applying these technologies within product development.

  • Contribute to the implementation of personalization strategies in digital products or services, leveraging AI-driven approaches to enhance user experience and engagement.

  • Apply strong analytical skills to interpret data insights, support product decisions, and identify opportunities to improve recommendation performance.

  • Collaborate with engineering, data science, and business teams to translate business needs into clear product requirements for AI-powered features.

  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, contributing to a collaborative and fast-paced agile environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in product management or a related role within a fast-paced, cross-functional environment

  • Experience working in Agile development teams in partnership with engineering

  • Exposure to AI/ML-driven products or features within the product development lifecycle

  • Demonstrated ability to manage components of projects or initiatives, delivering on time with stakeholder alignment

  • Interest in emerging technologies and AI, with the ability to understand and discuss their application in a business context

  • Experience using structured approaches to support product development and innovation

  • Comfort working with data and analytics to inform decisions and improve product outcomes

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams and functions

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ownership of workstreams or product areas, contributing to broader team goals

  • Basic statistics knowledge through academic study (e.g., math, computer science, engineering, economics, physics) or comparable experience
