We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Approvals Advisor to join us in our Access and Approvals team in Melbourne on a full-time permanent basis. This position requires candidates to be a current resident of Melbourne, Victoria.
Reporting to the Access and Approvals Manager - South East, the Senior Approvals Advisor is responsible for obtaining all environment and planning approvals, ensuring compliance against approvals conditions and securing all necessary land tenure arrangements for a suite of energy infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage access and approvals risk, cost and schedule for projects and integrate these within the overarching project risk registers and cost and schedule estimates.
- Identify and liaise with relevant stakeholders to obtain access and approvals for APA projects.
- Identify and obtain environment and planning approvals required to execute projects.
- Assisting with the securing of relevant land tenure such as easements and crown licences.
- Build and maintain relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to proactively manage issues, concerns, and disputes effectively, build trust and respect, and anticipate and respond to stakeholder needs.
- Appoint and manage external consultants, such as community engagement, cultural heritage and ecology specialists, through the preparation of scope and deliverables for packages of work and manage their performance.
- Verify compliance with project regulatory and corporate requirements during construction.
Your background
A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Town Planning, or a related field, along with a current Class C driver’s licence.
Demonstrated project management experience, with the ability to deliver access and approvals on time and within budget.
Proven experience in securing environmental and planning approvals for infrastructure projects, preferably linear in nature.
Strong capability in managing compliance with environmental and planning approval conditions during the construction phase.
Skilled in building effective working relationships and collaborating across teams and external stakeholders, with a focus on trust, integrity, and credibility.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, complemented by strong attention to detail and well-developed verbal and written communication abilities.
Committed to working in a safe, organised, and efficient manner, aligned with relevant policies and procedures.
