Biotransformation Senior Scientist, DMPK Oncology R&D

Oncology DMPK department
The Oncology Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) department provides ADME/PK, as well as translational PK/PD Modeling & Simulation support to all modalities in our discovery and development portfolio.

What you’ll do
You will join a global biotransformation teamthat provides disciplinary scientific leadership and supports our diverseportfolio including small molecules, PROTACs, antibody drugs conjugates (ADCs) andnano-medicines. . The qualified candidate will work alongside with our DMPK team in Boston (US), maintaining close collaboration within the global department. The position is based in Cambridge UK.
Accountabilities
Delivering biotransformation studies to assess metabolic pathways of molecules including soft-spot identification, structural elucidation of metabolites and assessment of bioactivation.
Delivering high quality in vitro/in vivo biotransformation studies to support drug candidate selection, regulatory submissions and MIST.
Supportingradio-labelled metabolite profiling studies from in vitro and in vivo samples (pre-clinical and clinical mass balance studies) in collaboration with outsourcing partners
Participating in validating cutting-edge analytical methodologies to support this core function.
Authoring technical reports, peer-reviewed publications and oral presentations.
Minimum Requirements – Education, Experienceand Capabilities
PhD in Analytical Chemistry/Biochemistry/Biology/Pharmacology or related area and several years of experience as biotransformation / Met-ID / analyticalscientistor alternatively a first degree and extensive relevant additional experience as biotransformation / Met-ID / analytical scientist.
Extensive experience and expertisein several of the following:
Structural elucidation of metabolites through the generation and interpretation of high resolution mass spectra and UV spectra and being a speaking partner to the NMR specialists.
Experience of working with Thermo scientific FT orbitrap mass spectrometers (Q-Exactive, Orbitrap Fusion) would be advantageous.
Understanding of the mechanisms of P-450 oxidations/reactive metabolites and how this may affect structural compound design
Ability to design and ideally conductin-vitro experiments for Met-ID studies
Understanding of how metabolite identification studies are carried out in early drug development (e.g. MIST guideline)
Work with project teams and external partners to ensure excellent study design and timely reporting of high quality biotransformation studies.
Scientific publication track record in biotransformation / analytical sciences
Excellent interpersonal skills that lead to successful collaborative work-relationships
