Oncology DMPK
The Oncology Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) department provides ADME/PK, as well as translational PK/PD Modelling & Simulation support to our discovery and development portfolio.
What you'll do
As Associate Director for DMPK you will provide disciplinary scientific leadership in collaboration with the DMPK project leaders to the AZ oncology drug discovery and clinical development projects.
You will join a global team of in-vitro ADME scientists that supports our diverseportfolio including small molecules, PROTACs, antibody drugs conjugates (ADCs) andnano-medicines The qualified candidate will work alongside with our DMPK team in Boston (US), maintaining close collaboration within the global department.Functional representation on oncology drug discovery projects provides an opportunity for development within in this role. The position is based in Cambridge UK.
Accountabilities
Devising and conducting ADMEexperimental science to support oncology portfolio projects (multiple modalities).
Deliveringanalytical&in-vitro solutions for challenging small moleculesincluding beyond rule of five compounds.
Demonstrating and sharing a passion for laboratory science and an ability to, alongside colleaguesdeliver mechanistic DMPK understanding
Leading innovations within the discipline
Mentoring junior scientists and providing support to the leadership team in both the strategic vision and in the efficient and progressive running of the department.
Authoring regulatory reports, peer-reviewed publications and oral presentations.
Contributing to discipline review groups across AZ therapeutic areas
Minimum Requirements – Education, Experienceand Capabilities
Ideally should have a Ph. D. degree or corresponding experience in a relevant scientific discipline >5 years ofexperience in drug discovery and early development or alternatively a first degree and extensive relevant additional experience in drug discovery and early development.
Extensive experience and expertisein several of the following:
Expertise in determining and assessing transporter drug-drug-interaction properties
Experimental determination of in-vitro ADME properties in general (metabolic stability, permeability, binding, drug-drug-interatcion potential)
Experience in cell culture, cell handling and cell-based assays
Development, validation and improvement of in-vitro ADME assays
LC-MS/MS method development and problem solving for quantitative bioanalysis
Broad understanding of all DMPK needed to support drug discovery and / or development projects
Scientific publication track record in in-vitro ADME sciences
Excellent interpersonal skills that lead to successful collaborative work-relationships is a must have
