Reporting to the Procurement Sr. Director for External Manufacturing, these roles will be accountable for the External Manufacturing procurement strategy for the assigned Therapy Area inclusive of API, Drug Substance, and Formulation & Pack categories and providing consultation to the Devices category. For the assigned Therapy Area, the Lead will ensure an end-to-end strategy for the brands within the therapy area, optimizing the commercial strategy across the key CMOs supporting those brands, inclusive of supplier touchpoints across Global Procurement.
Handle TA commercial priorities (contracting, savings initiatives, new establishment, risk management) using category manager resources from an external manufacturing GCM resource pool. Ensure strong alignment with key business stakeholders in External Supply & Manufacturing (ESM), Global Supply Chain & Strategy, Supplier Quality, and Finance. In conjunction with the other Therapy Area Leads, Global Procurement Managers (GPM) Pool Lead, Clinical Manufacturing Lead, and GPMs contribute to the API and F&P Category strategies. May also hold accountability for a Technology Category Strategy.
A leadership role that provides overall management and leadership to a category family globally or within a country or small region. Ensures that sourcing and procurement strategies are aligned to corporate strategy and feasible with existing and future suppliers. Alternatively, may be responsible for the implementation of complex, strategic regional, or global sourcing solutions in specific areas of expertise.
What you will do:
Category Strategy creation and execution, for Therapy Area, assigned and potentially assigned Technology Area category strategy.
Commercial Relationship Leadership for assigned Strategic External Manufacturers, including leading large, complex negotiations
Cross-functional leadership on relevant Sourcing Boards, and in Category Strategy creation
Within Category & TA Strategies, anticipating emerging technology or new product needs in coordination with peer Clinical Procurement role, value delivery inclusive of Cost Reduction and other value elements
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree level required
10+ years of Detailed knowledge of the pharmaceutical or other healthcare regulated industry
Expertise in at least one area of Procurement and knowledge of several others
Shown leadership experience
Communication skills and ability to influence others
Comfort with risk and ambiguous situations
