Job Description

What role can Pharmacists fulfil at AstraZeneca?

Careers in Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmaceutical Technology and Development, Commercial Manufacturing, Clinical Trials, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs are just a few of the many options available to Pharmacists.

What are we looking for?

AstraZeneca are looking to appoint Master of Pharmacy students who are currently in their third year of study. Passion, integrity and a sense of fun are key to this role, as well as the ability to work as part of a team. Candidates should be curious about industrial pharmacy and passionate about using innovative science to develop and deliver medicines which make a difference to patients’ lives! Candidates should also have a good academic background and be prepared to apply your knowledge of pharmacy and the patient in a practical way!

This role is suited to Master of Pharmacy students who are interested in taking the first step towards a career in the Pharmaceutical industry.

What can we offer you?

Summer placement positions are available at our Macclesfield (Cheshire) site and potentially our Cambridge (Cambridgeshire) site. Projects are available in Pharmaceutical Science and Pharmaceutical Technology and Development (PT&D). During the 10-week placement you will gain a useful insight into the industry and the variety of opportunities available within our organisation.

What is the Trainee Pharmacist Foundation Year opportunity that you can apply for during your placement?

During the placement there is also the chance to apply for our competitive Trainee Pharmacist Foundation Year. The split of this is a joint scheme with a local hospital, providing six months at AstraZeneca, six months in the hospital, and some time in a community pharmacy setting.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain insight and experience within a wide variety of pharmacy environments. A valid work permit is required for this position.

Applications for the Pharmacy Summer Placement will be open until Sunday 12th February 2023 and you can expect to hear from us by early March. Interviews will be held in March and will be virtual. The placements will take place from late June for 10 weeks. A salary will be paid.
