Our new, world class Global Packing Centre is a vibrant hub in the AstraZeneca supply network with over 300 people dedicated to supplying medicines to patients. We have an exciting opportunity for a strong business leader to join the Operations Leadership Team to provide strategic direction and leadership for the Packing and Tablets Formulation function.

We'll ask you to be accountable for site, global and pioneering projects and will set the functional strategy for the Process Execution Teams (PET) in line with the product lifecycle, market demands and overall site plan.

Collaborating across the business and engaging with the delivery teams at all levels – from shopfloor to production leaders – is key to success in this role. Key short-term deliverables will be to establish the new People Hub by the end of 2023 and define the right capabilities to meet the business needs of the future.

What you'll do:

We'll need you to develop a strategic direction for the Global Packaging Centre that is in keeping with broader AstraZeneca strategy and objectives. This will involve building and negotiating budgets for various areas of the PET, based on capability, capacity and future portfolio requirements. You will develop this plan with information from the leaders in your team and key customers in the business.

You'll need to develop an understanding of client needs and ensure that Packing has the resources and capacity to satisfy these over the medium and long-term.

You will use your experience, expertise, lean tools, and your team to resolve the most complex issues in manufacturing.

You'll ensure proper systems and processes are in place to manage budgets and guarantee that objectives are met, so that patients receive their medicines in a cost efficient and timely manner.

An experienced leader, you'll employ coaching, training and mentoring to ensure there is an adequate talent pipeline for the PET.

You may potentially act as leader of Process Execution teams in smaller countries or regions.

Requirements:

  • Ideally you will hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management or related field

  • Significant experience in manufacturing and supply chain

  • Proven leadership promoting motivation and empowering others to accomplish individual, team and organisational objectives

  • Ability to lead cross functional working groups and teams; Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities, resources, performance targets and project initiatives in a global and regional environment

  • Proven negotiation, collaboration and interpersonal leadership skills

  • Budgetary and resource management planning experience

  • Conceptual, analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Confirmed experience in leading change and handling the associated people dimension
