What you’ll do

As a Medical Educator, you will be responsible for ensuring general practitioners (GPs) and other clinical practice leaders (nurses, allied health, health educators, pharmacists, community health care professionals and diverse healthcare decision makers) have the disease awareness and scientific understanding to support the safe and effective use of AstraZeneca medicines. You will serve as an expert on products within the respiratory therapeutic area and will ensure that your knowledge is always kept up to date.


You will also support local patient pathway improvement through a detailed understanding of the local environment and partner where appropriate in optimising patient pathways and local guidelines. This will include developing partnerships with the NHS at a system level, which will include facilitating the provision of services through mechanisms such as “Joint Working Agreements” and "Donated Goods and Services".

You will work collaboratively with our population health team to deliver improved patient outcomes via clinical practice change. Have an understanding of evidence generation and support the real world evidence team gather local data.

Accountabilities

The Medical Educator role within Respiratory supports products and advocates for evidence-based product differentiation and changes in medical practice. This role works closely with field-based customer-facing role in Medical Affairs and Commercial.

Ensuring all external interventions are delivered in compliance with the ABPI code of practice.

Essential Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in a bioscience subject or a professional qualification in healthcare or clinical experience (e.g., Nurse, Pharmacist, Physician’s Assistant, Primary Care Physician or related scientific degree)

Clinical experience (e.g., Nurse, Pharmacist, Physician’s Assistant, Primary Care Physician or related scientific degree)

Experience working within the Respiratory therapy area

Previous experience working within a similar role within Respiratory or a Medical Sales Rep looking to progress within a Medical Educator role

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to interact and manage a range of stakeholders both internally and externally

Desirable

Advanced scientific degree

Knowledge of the ABPI code of practice

Thorough knowledge or experience of the pharmaceutical industry

Project management experience
