ABOUT THE ROLE?
The Head of Enabling Units IT at AstraZeneca is accountable for all aspects of the enterprise technology strategy, roadmap, delivery, and application support for respective business functions. This role carries with it a broad technology and digital remit across all our Enabling Units including Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, Mergers and Acquisitions, Global Business Services, Corporate Affairs, Facilities Management, Internal Audit, Investor Relations, and Corporate Secretariat.
This senior role will serve as a senior member of the IT Leadership Team (ITLT) reporting to the Chief Digital Officer & CIO, leading a diverse global team of ~500 technology colleagues across multiple geographies including the United Kingdom, United States, India, Mexico, Costa Rica, Poland, Malaysia, and Sweden. The role is accountable for the smooth running of 200+ global systems, and a project portfolio of 50+ in-flight projects or platforms.
This role interacts on a regular basis with members of the AstraZeneca Senior Executive Team including the CFO, CHRO, General Counsel and the Chief Compliance Officer as well as sitting on several of the respective business leadership teams.

Key Accountabilities:
- The role is accountable as an ITLT member for the delivery of overall technology services on behalf of the enterprise.
- Has a high degree of inputs and influence over the Global IT strategy and impacts upon AstraZeneca's broader corporate goals and objectives
- Sets the Enabling Units technology and digital transformation strategy in partnership with the functional leaders to ensure digital is embedded by default
- Owns the digital agenda for Enabling Units, sharing best practices across the organization and enabling and championing digital innovation that meets the needs of the patient and AZ sustainability objectives.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of the Enabling Units technology strategy and plans ensuring alignment to the overall IT strategy and functional needs
- Accountable to ensure that IT policies and programs are optimally set up, communicated and driven throughout the function
- Builds the decision support is vital to act quickly on opportunities by combining proof of concepts and corporate strategy.
- Reviews the ongoing operational performance of the team, focusing on the development of efficiencies and operational improvements, such as operational efficiency, cost control, revenue management, legal compliance and human resource management
- Leads, guides, evaluates and develops a team of senior leaders to ensure that the area achieves its' business objectives and aligns with all relevant regulations and laws
- Develops plans and resource requirements to ensure IT builds the capability and capacity it needs to continue to support client functions in the medium and long term and provides the required levels of quality service
- Follows key developments in digital and technology, and takes a balanced approach to scalable innovation in IT ensuring current and future client needs are planned for and are met
- Is accountable for delivering financial commitments and performance goals
- Gives direction to AstraZeneca's digital and technology initiatives at the highest level and ensures resources are channelled appropriately to generate maximum impact and value
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED?
- Experience developing and driving technology and digital Strategy in a sophisticated and regulated multi-national environment
- End-To-End global technology program delivery and business transformation experience
- Inclusive leadership skills within sophisticated global technology organisations
- Extensive knowledge of driving all aspects of digital transformation and digital innovation
- Ability to influence and connect with C-Suite senior partners to acquire desired outcomes while maintaining effective, positive relationships
- Extensive experience leading and developing multi-layered teams in a global matrix environment
- Deep domain functional and technical understanding of either Finance or Human Resource (two largest domains covered by role)
- Leadership skills promoting, motivating, and empowering others to accomplish individual, team and organisational objectives
- Data-savvy professional understanding the value and application of data (and related technologies) to deliver business value
- Large industry professional network and evidence of working with senior external partners to co-develop and influence product and service direction
