Join Francisca Wollerton at AstraZeneca a Senior Scientist within our Biologics Engineering (BE) team. You will provide critical antibody/protein engineering expertise to support the delivery of our next-generation biotherapeutics portfolio in the oncology therapeutic area, focusing on Immuno Oncology, multispecifics and Immune Cell Engagers.

BUSINESS AREA
The Biologics Engineering team is responsible for the discovery and optimisation of biological candidate drugs across all AZ therapy areas such as oncology, respiratory and inflammation, cardiovascular, renal and metabolic diseases.
What you’ll do
Identify and develop innovative solutions to engineer the next generation of immune cell engagers and novel formats to support pipeline and technology delivery
Lead drug candidate/technology projects by planning, coordinating and prioritising engineering activities and working closely with colleagues from Oncology Biological Science in project teams.
Contribute to project/technology progression by independently designing and executing antibody isolation and characterisation experiments such as phage selection, high throughput cloning and expression, affinity and developability assays.
Maintain a well-developed understanding of approaches to biologics drug discovery and keep abreast of developments in immune therapeutics.
Provide technical training and supervise members of the team where required
Ensures own work and work of peers follows Good Laboratory Practice, Safety, Health, and Environment standards and all other relevant internal AstraZeneca standards and external regulations
Essential for the role
Ph. D. in a relevant field or equivalent experience
A deep level of knowledge and hands-on experience in antibody/protein engineering
Knowledge of the field of immunotherapy and its applications
Strong technical skills in molecular biology, cell culture, protein expression and purification, antibody and biophysical characterization
Ability to collaborate effectively, as demonstrated by publications
Desirable for the role
Previous experience of drug discovery project leadership
Previous experience of working on immune cell engagers
