We are looking to hire a Medical Director or Senior Medical Director with a background in Dermatology by specialty training and/or clinical drug development, to join our team within Early Clinical Development, Immunology. Additional, expertise in Clinical Pharmacology relevant to early drug development is desirable.

What you’ll do
As a Medical Director / Senior Medical Director, you will be the single point accountable leader for the design, delivery and interpretation of clinical studies in Early stage (up to Ph3) within AstraZeneca´s global organization. You will be responsible for the scientific & medical strategy as a disease area expert and deliver the Medical Scientific strategies of the Clinical Development Plan to the project team.
You will operate in a wide range of aspects in pharmaceutical medicine and lead a multitude of contacts within and outside of AstraZeneca such as Senior management team, Regulatory and Finance, Academic partners and CROs.
For Immunology at AZ, you would be a key part of the Team working across multiple diseases in specialties focused on Dermatology (e.g., Atopic Dermatitis, Psoriasis), GI diseases (e.g., Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis) and Rheumatology (e.g., Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Rheumatoid Arthritis). You will be familiar with relevant Regulatory guidelines for drug development in key Dermatological diseases, current treatment guidelines, relevant competitor trial designs and data as these are continually evolving. As such this will enable you to build novel and innovative Early Clinical development plans.
We rely on you to:
Build positive relationships and networks with internal and external medical community to follow developments within areas of expertise
Design or manage the implementation of the medical strategy within Clinical Development globally
Ensure that clinical input into the Translational Medicine and development strategies and plans receive adequate peer consultation to assure high scientific quality and patient relevance.
Closely follows medical developments within assigned areas and disseminates new information within Clinical Development to transform trends and emerging data into new plans
Act as Medical Lead for regulatory communication and preparation of higher level documents
Ensures internal and external peer review of potential study/programme design
Support qualification of pharmacodynamic/disease markers for early assessment of efficacy
Essential for the role:
We believe that you are a fully qualified physician (MD or MD PhD) with several years of clinical pharmacology or pharmaceutical industry experience in clinical drug development.
A Dermatology background by specialty training and/or Clinical Drug Development.
You have significant leadership experience and proven teamwork and collaboration skills.
You are required to travel nationally and internationally.
You also possess:
Significant experience in the design, monitoring, executing and interpreting clinical trials, with understanding of biomarkers, biostatistics and safety reporting
Excellent interpersonal skills
Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English
