HEALTH ECONOMICS AND PAYER EVIDENCE DIRECTOR – WHAT YOU’LL DO:
The successful candidate will work closely with Pricing and Market Access Directors, the HEPE team across brands and indications, the Simulation and Analytics team, the IVS team, our marketing companies (local affiliates), and cross functionally – Globally and Regionally, with an expectation that they will make impact into strategic discussions across R&D, medical and commercial.
Collaborate with cross functional R&D, commercial, medical, regional and country teams to develop, launch and commercialise AstraZeneca Oncology medicines.
High quality health economics and payer evidence input into pharmaceutical development projects, payer evidence strategy and plans, and market access & pricing strategies
Matrix management of a cross functional team to support the development of payer strategy and evidence including payer statistical analyses, patient reported outcomes, health economics and real-world evidence.
Independently execute and deliver brand-level health economics and payer evidence related activities, including economic models, indirect comparison/network meta-analysis, Global Reimbursement dossier (GRD), payer-focused clinical trial analysis, etc, to ensure optimal access of our life changing medicines to patients
Ensure target product profiles and target claims can meet payer needs and necessary supporting evidence is developed.
Apply your knowledge to support decision-making processes, value demonstration and commercialization of products including through Health Technology Assessment (HTA).
Advocate and champion the need for scientifically sound trial and non-trial data (including RWE, economic modelling, meta-analyses, observational studies, and PRO approaches).
Contribute and lead payer evidence discussions in relevant cross-functional team meetings – eg GPT (Global Product Team), IBT (Integrated Brand Team), RSST (Regulatory Submission Strategy Team), RWE Strategy team.
Lead and deliver the health economics related activities for an innovative therapy in Breast Cancer, prepare for a successful payer launch across our key markets and collaborate with local affiliates in preparing evidence that satisfies local payer requirements.
Contribute to peer reviewed scientific publications, as well as effective communication of complex ideas for use with both payers and other stakeholders.
Participate in external health economics and payer evidence departmental activities via technical presentations, committee membership, publication reviews, and other similar activities.
Interact with HTA authorities and advisors/key external experts in preparing materials for scientific advice or reimbursement submissions.
Raise the profile of access internally and externally
Essential Requirements
Graduate degree in health economics, biomedical science, business, or a related quantitative discipline.
Oncology therapy area experience, local or global launch experience
Over 7-year’s working experience in health economics, market access, and pricing, ideally having worked at a senior level within a health economic consultancy or in a pharmaceutical company.
Ability to communicate technical matters in a clear, compelling and impactful way with others via a range of media (e.g. face to face, teleconferences, video conferences, formal presentations, strong scientific writing for reports, analysis plans and emails).
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, understand and apply different technical approaches, and have wide understanding of different HTA systems.
Desirable Requirements
Global or regional payer launch experience and global or regional payer evidence development experience.
Experience of working in GU and GYN cancer area.
Develops and uses internal and external networks, including leading academic and information bodies, to shape future trends in analytical techniques and to ensure that that the most up-to-date analytical techniques are being applied to maximise payer leverage.
