As the Group FP&A Manager you will play a key a key role in Group planning processes, driving central understanding and insight to inform CEO and SET/Board decision making, financial target setting and long range planning. This role is instrumental in building the Group’s 10-year Long Term Plan that is the basis of annual strategic review with the CEO and Board as well as setting the annual budget.
This role offers the chance to add real business value through insights into the Group’s future plans and the opportunity to build strong and wide-ranging networks within Group and Business Unit Finance functions. The role comes with exposure to senior leaders within AstraZeneca and the ability to influence enterprise level decision making.
Responsibilities
The role reports to the Group Planning Director and will primarily be responsible for:
Deliver Group level analysis and review of business units planning submissions
Supporting through analytics, scenario modelling and clear presentation the recommendation to, and endorsement by the Board, of the Group’s Budget, Mid Term and Long Term Plan
Preparation of insightful briefing materials for senior management & Board
Partnering with the business to assist with decision making support analysis and an effective, efficient planning process (Global Pipeline & Projects Management, Therapy Area Finance teams, Planning delivery and technical teams)
Support critical annual processes, such as Mid and Long Term plan restatements
Driving simplification and standardisation to the Group Planning process and systems, creating a best in class planning process, systems and visualisations for senior management
Analyse the Group’s exposure to foreign exchange rates, briefing senior management and supporting the Business Performance team and Cash team
Working closely with the Business performance team, to support their delivery of monthly, quarterly and yearly management reporting of the AZ Group, as well as short term forecasting.
Supporting Senior Management ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential for the Role:
Excellent system skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint skills
Problem solving skills, ability to identify root causes and propose or implement robust solutions
Attention to detail and commitment to high quality and reliability of deliverables
Able to connect and develop a strong working relationship with various teams (i.e. within GP&BP, Planning Delivery and other Technical teams, Group Platforms Leads, Therapy Area Finance teams, Global Projects & Portfolio Management Finance team among others)
Proactive and delivery focused, comfortable working in a dynamic, challenging environment, able to work independently (i.e. with limited guidance) and under tight timelines
Experienced in commercial finance, FP&A
Analytical Finance Professional with the ability to deliver succinct, high impact briefing material suitable for CFO, CEO, Senior Executive team / Board level audiences
Enjoys working closely to senior management, learning about the strategic management of the company and has the ability to support their decision making
Desirable for the Role:
Prior experience in Regional or Group environment
Prior experience in Pharmaceuticals
Knowledge of Hyperion Planning including SmartView
