You will work with a team of multidisciplinary scientists that are able to support oncology in vivo PK/PD and efficacy modelling studies. You will work across groups to manage/ support projects to impact on the AZ oncology pipeline.

Site description
This role will be located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, this site combines outstanding biomedical research, patient care and education on a single site location in the heart of Cambridge. The office will be within walking distance of the new purpose-built building that will bring together the company's research and development activity in a brand new strategic R&D centre and global corporate headquarters. What you'll do
Lead a team of in vivo pharmacologists handling the performance of team members, helping to set goals and objectives while being responsible for team member's professional development.
Act as lead in vivo biologist on drug discovery projects. In this role you will drive the in vivo strategy and design, in addition the choice of in vivo models to support drug discovery projects
Contributing to strategies and defining objectives to ensure the in vivo pharmacology group optimally delivers against broader AstraZeneca goals and objectives.
Maintain an understanding and awareness of internal and external developments that could affect the discipline and share this with team members. Identifying new drug development opportunities and conveying ideas to team members to cultivate a working environment that promotes science and encourages innovation on drug discovery projects.
Building networks with other team leaders and external experts to learn about new developments, demonstrating opportunities and share best practices.
Ensuring that your own work and the work of your team is of a high ethical standard and complies with good laboratory standards, Safety Health and Environment standards and all other relevant internal and external regulations.
Essential for the role
A PhD in oncology or equivalent experience in a relevant area of cancer biology
Extensive experience within the pharmaceutical industry and the drug discovery process across different project stages.
Ability to be an effective leader within multidisciplinary teams.
Extensive line management experience
Strong understanding of preclinical PK/PD/efficacy relationship modelling and generation of in vivo disease modelling data. Expertise in a wide range of Oncology models.
Experience providing innovative solutions to complex problems within drug discovery projects.
Broad and comprehensive understanding of most areas of oncology.
Known reputation within the industry and strong publication record.
Requires a thorough understanding of therapeutic needs and therapies in the disease area.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Desirable for the role
Experience of HO legislation and associated governance (HO Modules A-D)
