We are currently searching for a candidate who can drive strategic planning and execution of the OBU projects and accountabilities for the OBU Medical organization which includes interface at a franchise level with cross-functional teams across OBU. The role would include project oversight and budget management, change management, and cross-functional coordination with other franchise medical teams. This role would report directly to the Strategy, Operations & External Innovation Leader for OBU Medical but would work closely with the franchise lead. The position will be based in Gaithersburg, MD (USA) Mississauga or Cambridge UK.
The ideal candidate will be expected to work in a highly effective way with other project and medical leaders to develop integrated plans which can be delivered globally and across cross-functional boundaries. The ideal candidates can demonstrate their strategic thinking, problem solving skills, ability to work collaboratively and act decisively to support the broader goals of OBU Medical as a whole.
Accountabilities/responsibilities
Supports the Tumour Head/Teams to progress from ideation to implementation on the portfolio tumour strategy synergistically across indications and assets and optimizes global and local interfaces for execution
Facilitates overall budget and strategic workforce planning across the functional groups including forecasting, phasing and prioritization across the business planning cycle as well as rollup into Long Range Plans (LRPs)
Responsible for strategic planning and prioritization of key franchise team deliverables such as development of Medical Plans, Evidence Generation plans, Confidence/Evidence concept proposals, Launch plans Congress plans, and Scientific exchange plans
Facilitates Externally Sponsored Research Review committee meeting for timely review and decisions on proposals
Collaborates with Medical Affairs tumour teams to facilitate compliant external grant requests review and decision making
Maintains project / deliverables dashboard for portfolio progress against scorecard objectives and represents updates in monthly GMA operational meetings
Accountable for implementation of medical standards to ensure compliant functioning of the organization
Leads effective agenda driven meetings with leadership team, provides strategic input into meeting agendas, identify and track decisions and actions for the team to monitor progression of activities
Defines with Tumour Head required offsite meetings and ensures flawless implementation in coordination with other relevant functions
Co-ordinates and assists Tumor Head in preparation of presentations to senior leadership and communications on key topics and initiatives
Continuous improvement on ways of working to share best practices to streamline and simplify the business processes
In this role, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing and guiding a specialized team operating within the Oncology Business Unit. Your leadership will play a pivotal role in steering the team towards success and ensuring the effective execution of projects and initiatives related to oncology products and services.
Manages and trains indication/asset PMs, assign specific project responsibilities and create a high performing team by building trust and providing mentorship
Partners with indication/asset level project managers to ensure efficient functioning of the Medical Implementation Teams and ensure connectivity with Integrated Business Teams

Required experience:
Minimum of 7 years experience in pharmaceutical industry
Minimum of 3 years experience in Medical Affairs, Commercial and R&D (Global, regional, or local)
Comprehensive understanding of the development and commercialisation of pharmaceutical products
Experience of successful influencing cross functionally, cross-culturally and cross-brands
Experience of effective working in a multi-cultural, matrixed environment
Experience working in a global setting, managing stakeholders within different time zones
Experience preparing and/or delivering presentations to executive leadership
Experience in planning and leading strategic initiatives
Preferred Requirements:
Graduate level degree in sciences or business degree
Six Sigma Medical/Process Excellence and/or Project Management/PMP/FPX certification is a plus but not required
Depth of understanding of medical, scientific and/or commercial pharmaceutical marketplace of Oncology
