The Global Deployment Lead opportunity sits within the Clinical Trial Cost Management project (CTCM) who support the team’s ambition of being trusted partners for change excellence and building long-term capabilities to make AstraZeneca future fit.

The role of the CTCM Global Deployment Lead creates the opportunity to play a pivotal role in advancing AstraZeneca’s Clinical Trial investment transparency and management by ensuring a successful implementation of the new tool (Abacus) and business processes. This is a senior role which forms part of the Programme Leadership Team, and the successful candidate will need to be comfortable presenting to senior VP level executives at Steerco.

The successful post holder will be responsible for ensuring a successful implementation of our new Clinical Trial Cost Management solution by managing and delivering core aspects of the Deployment workstream within the project, i.e. development, agreement and delivery of E2E deployment strategy, deployment & cut-over plans, go-live readiness, user acceptance testing as well as Hypercare and closure of the BAU implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and proactively managing the critical success criteria ahead of go-live.

  • Creating and executing the Deployment Strategy and plan working closely with key workstream leads and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

  • Building an effective working relationship with project stakeholders especially within Design, IT, Data, Testing Change, Comms and Training.

  • Managing highly diverse activities, multiples stakeholder groups and significant scope.

  • Scheduling and resourcing to ensure support for the variety of changes and implementation including the management of go-live readiness, creation and coordination of implementations plans (test, readiness, migration, cutover, disaster recovery) and hyper care.

  • Understanding and actively managing/mitigating key internal and external dependencies within the project including necessary escalation of potential Deployment related risks and issues

  • Working closely with business and IT leads to identify Deployment opportunities.

  • Regularly reviewing and reporting on project statuses, milestones, challenges, and key accomplishments to the program team.

  • Bringing together your cross-functional skills and strengths in business analysis, problem solving and team coaching to constantly search for areas of improvements.

  • Achieving successful sign-off and handover to post implementation support function, ensuring all projects are handed over fully to BAU organisations.

  • Coordinating and supporting deployment enabling activities as and when needed.

  • Managing end to end Hypercare for the project, through to successful project closure.

  • Manage the user acceptance testing lead / workstream.


Essential Criteria

  • Exceptional communication skills to work with key stakeholders, team members, external partners to ensure the delivery of the project roadmap and its deliverables.

  • Experience in leading teams, designing, and executing best practise deployment approaches.

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification, ideally financially qualified or part qualified.

  • Proven track record in delivering Deployment strategies for large strategic projects in business transformation with a hands-on approach, across different national and business boundaries.

  • Knowledge of agile methodologies.

  • Track record of successfully implementing technology solution with impactful process change elements.

  • Demonstrated success building cross-functional global networks and stakeholder management.

  • Deep knowledge of software development and implementation projects delivered in a dynamic environment.

  • Experience of working in a global multi-national environment managing different stakeholder relationships.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with eye for detail to manage local and remote stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Desirable criteria:

  • Basic understanding of core financial process or experience in the Clinical Trial space will be an advantage.

  • User acceptance testing experience.

  • Hypercare experience
