What You'll do

The Business Unit Director (BUD) of Oncology is the most senior Oncology leadership role in the local marketing company, playing a meaningful role within the Senior Leadership Team and reports directly to AstraZeneca Country Director of Ireland. With AstraZeneca's robust Oncology portfolio, this strategic leader will play a key role resource planning and the continued build out of our team and capabilities.

Your mission is to achieve Oncology P&L targets through the strategic cross-functional planning and perfect execution of creative marketing, sales, diagnostics, innovation, medical and clinical development activities. The BUD of Oncology has reporting lines across the Commercial Oncology

Franchises dedicated collaborative resources within Medical Affairs and across Market Access, Government Affairs, Communications and Patient Advocacy, Regulatory Affairs, Finance and Commercial Operations.

Accountabilities include:

• Lead the Oncology team in delivering our strategy and ambition of eliminating cancer as a cause of death always putting the patient first
• Lead and role modelling of AZ culture and values.
• Accountable for the Oncology P&L, including topline targets (volumes and price) and investments/expenses across all departments
• Accountable for the strategic mid-term planning (MTP) and for the delivery of all BSPs (Brand Strategic Plans)
• Full Management of Commercial franchises and leading our collaborations
• Help define and support Market Access, Governmental Affairs, Communication and Patient Advocacy objectives
• Constant monitoring of direct and indirect (shared) resources: prepare the structure and capabilities for the future pipeline and external environment
• Provide direction, coaching and development opportunities to all members of the Oncology BU
• Maintain a positive ambitious and motivational atmosphere such that all feel that they can contribute to the unit's development and receive appropriate recognition
• Cultivate a culture of cross-functional work and ownership
• Develop strong relations with key external partners across the Oncology ecosystem; maintain contact with relevant advocacy groups in support of AZ Oncology interests
• Liaise closely with all corporate colleagues, maintaining a strong contribution in relation to product development
• Provide local strategic feedback into global brands and projects
• Active contribution to advancing, accelerating, simplifying the WESE Area and local working and partnering models and processes towards maximum value creation for patients, healthcare, societies and AstraZeneca

Essential experience:

• University degree qualification
• Substantial pharmaceutical proven experience across multiple functions
• Business unit management experience, incorporating responsibility for sales and marketing
• Market access and/or governmental affairs experience
• In-depth understanding of Medical Affairs activities
• Expertise in Oncology
• Successful launch experience
• Extensive oncology high level network (scientific societies, national institutions)
• Management experience over cross-functional teams
• Proven track record to navigate the local and international matrix
