AstraZeneca’s Order to Cash (“O2C”) function is undergoing a multi-year transformation to support business growth and prepare for a migration to from SAP ECC to SAP S4 HANA.

One of the key priorities of the role is to continue standardising our processes across the globe and driving our automation and technology agenda. Additionally the role will be responsible for identifying and driving continuous improvement opportunities as well as process compliance.

To support this ambitious agenda, we have an opportunity for an O2C Director to join the business and help influence the overall O2C strategy, delivery and adoption. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of what best-in-class processes and technology looks like and be able to speak confidently with users, system architects and business stakeholders alike. The O2C team is providing global support to the AstraZeneca Group. This role provides an excellent opportunity to directly contribute to the group Finance function of a leading global FTSE company.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operational performance: Relentlessly drive operational performance with an emphasis on increasing end to end automation, meeting or exceeding targets, ensuring flawless execution, driving efficiency and effectiveness and supporting business growth

  • Targets: Set and monitor targets to improve service, quality and automation levels globally. Benchmark performance externally and continuously assess opportunities to further improve all aspects

  • Continuous improvement: Identify improvement opportunities, develop business cases, ensure that initiatives are appropriately prioritized based upon cost/benefit. Provide leadership oversight covering design, delivery and ensuring the changes are embedded successfully and all benefits realized

  • Leadership: Lead a diverse global team consisting of both direct and indirect reports. Coach and support their personal and professional development

  • Controls & compliance: Ensure that all processes are executed in line with design, that all controls are operated effectively so as to avoid any control fails and ensure that any issues are resolved proactively

  • Strategy: Influence strategic direction of the function and help to develop short, medium and long term plans aligned to AstraZeneca’s overall strategy

  • Technology: Support in flight deployments to successful embed into daily operations and ensure benefit realization Is delivered. Identify potential opportunities to improve further as part of “business as usual”

  • Stakeholder management: Influence both internal and external stakeholders to successfully deliver and embed change

Essential skills and experience

  • Deep and broad experience of order to cash and banking gained in a global corporate environment

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

  • Track record of driving performance and developing teams

  • Experience in leading and successfully delivering change programs

  • Excellent leadership, influencing and people management skills

  • Expert in working with SAP

Desirable skills and experience

  • Prior working experience of HighRadius (collections, cash application and deductions), Esker (order management) and Celonis (process mining) products

  • Formal continuous improvement / Lean / Six Sigma qualification

  • Experience of working with outsourced providers

  • Experience of implementing S4HANA
