As a Project Director, you will be responsible for leading Supply projects/programs on time and budget, developing project plans, managing relationships with project sponsors and stakeholders, and ensuring that project teams adopt quality and compliance standards.
External Supply and Manufacturing (ESM) supports the Operations strategy by establishing robust, stable processes and standards with our external suppliers across the world. We handle the sourcing, planning, and supply of all our externally manufactured products (small and large molecule) into the AstraZeneca network. We currently work with ca 200 suppliers across 28 countries handling ca 2000 Product SKU’s with a procurement value of over $1 billion. We also support the introduction of new and in-licensed products.
What you will do:
Implementing new and redesigned pharmaceutical supply chains globally
Leading global projects across multiple organizations, geographies, and business areas. This role will provide the opportunity to interact and collaborate with a wide group of partners including senior management, external suppliers, AZ operations, finance, technical, quality, and CMC teams as well as counterparts in IT, development, and commercial teams to deliver these projects and impactful changes
Delivering projects/programs involving Contract Manufacturing Organisations (CMO); such as establishing external commercial supply for new products, expanded supply for existing products, business continuity planning, and projects responding to new legislation
Developing, following, and agreeing on project plans including activities, resources, costs, roles, responsibilities, and quality assurance for supply chain projects
Recommending revisions to projects as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
Managing day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope to ensure timely completion of the project and meeting deadlines
Building and leading project teams while communicating roles and responsibilities
Ensuring that impact and changes resulting from projects/programs are effectively communicated to the business
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor-level degree in a scientific, engineering, or business field
Minimum 7 years of program/project management experience in the pharma industry including leading significant supply chain change projects
Biologics manufacturing/supply chain experience
Technical experience across the one of following areas – Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, Drug Substances, Formulated Product, Finished Pack, Devices and Critical Materials, Technology Transfers, New Product Launches
Well-developed organizational and interpersonal skills
Experience working with third-party suppliers and contract manufacturing organizations
Experience leading cross-functional project teams across external suppliers and internal functions
Key to this role is the ability to identify and handle significant risks, develop mitigation plans, bring clarity and solutions to complex technical situations with high ambiguity, and lead the delivery of several diverse projects at the same time. You will possess excellent communication and influencing skills, be able to give clear clarity and direction and hold people accountable for time-critical activities. You will be able to balance business needs and costs for a range of issues across the lifecycle of a project.
