If you’d like to be considered for this opportunity we encourage you to apply promptly to avoid disappointment as if applications are high the role will close before the closing date given.

This is a senior commercial leadership opportunity to shape how AWE enables effective, compliant and value-focused commercial delivery.

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will lead a sizeable function of approximately 80–100 people and take ownership of the strategy, operating model, governance, systems, processes and capability that underpin commercial performance.

You will play a central role in transforming and continuously improving the commercial operating environment, ensuring the right frameworks, policies, procedures, controls and systems are in place to enable the wider commercial organisation to perform at its best.

Working closely with the Commercial Leadership Team and senior stakeholders across the organisation, you will provide leadership across commercial governance, risk and assurance, transformation, performance insight, systems and data, workforce planning and organisational capability.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for an experienced senior leader who combines strong people leadership with a track record of delivering transformation and operational improvement within a complex, regulated environment.

You will bring:

  • Experience leading a substantial function or team, ideally at a scale of around 80–100 FTE
  • Strong commercial experience, with particular depth across commercial policy, governance, procedures and controls
  • A proven track record of leading significant transformation and change
  • Experience designing, implementing or improving operating models and governance frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of systems, processes and digital enablement, with the ability to identify and deliver improvements
  • Experience working with Executive and senior-level stakeholders, influencing across organisational boundaries
  • Strong commercial, analytical and strategic judgement, with an ability to balance governance and compliance with effective delivery
  • Experience of organisational capability and workforce planning in a complex environment
  • The leadership presence to build, develop and inspire a large, high-performing team

This role would suit a commercially minded transformation leader who can see the bigger picture, but is equally comfortable getting underneath the operating model, governance, systems and processes that make a commercial function effective.
