AWE is currently recruiting for a Business Case Assurance Manager for our Finance function, home to several specialist teams driving robust decision‑making across AWE. At the heart of this sits the Business Case Assurance Team, a key part of our investment governance process. This team leads the development and delivery of end‑to‑end business case assurance, working closely with the business, PMO, Finance and other enabling functions to ensure every business case is clear, concise and built on solid foundations.

From choosing the right type of business case to advising on assurance levels and timing, the team plays a pivotal role in guiding proposals through the approvals process. Whether it's an Integrated Approvals and Assurance Plan, an Abridged Business Case, an OBC or full FBC, all work aligns with the principles of JSP655, the HMT Green Book and Managing Public Money.


Key Accountabilities:

* Deliver a training and Learning from Experience (LFE) programme for all AWE staff and stakeholders involved in the production assurance and governance of business cases.

* Provide support, advice and guidance as required to the business for the drafting of Integrated Approvals and Assurance Plans (IAAP) and manage the configuration control and audit.

* Develop business case assurance and approval data, reporting tool(s) and a management information dashboard to meet line management requirement.

* Develop assurance stakeholder engagement, be proactive in contacting stakeholders to ensure you are fully up to date with the latest proposed business cases.

* Develop the working relationship with AWE and DNO approvals as well as the wider Defence assurance and scrutiny communities.

* Provide guidance and advice to project teams on the requirements and development of Business Case, using organisational templates and HMT 5 case model.

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following:

  • Degree or equivalent is desirable
  • APM Practitioner qualification

We do need you to have the following:

  • Ability to identify, investigate, evaluate and implement improved ways of working
  • Ability to take decisions and solve complex business problems
  • A strong focus on efficiency, innovation and quality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong focus on customers and partners and ability to build and sustain strong relationships.
  • Ability to manage yourself and work on your own initiative.
  • Suitable for an individual with experience in a project support
