Finance Business Partner Specialist

Location: Located between Reading and Aldermaston, with free onsite parking.

Package: £46,220 - £51,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

As a key member of our Finance Business Partnering team, the Finance Business Partner Specialist plays a vital role in delivering high‑quality financial insight and expertise. You'll provide trusted, expert advice to the Senior Finance Business Partner and the wider Service Delivery Unit, helping to shape informed decision‑making and drive strong financial performance across AWE.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Apply all appropriate procedures, processes and systems to ensure the quality and consistency of data supported by your team.
  • Prepare, monitor and control of forecasts and budgets for specified areas, including change control.
  • Carry out variance analysis and cost monitoring against a range of financial measures and expense categories and provide input to narrative for impact and recovery statements.
  • Support system interrogation and financial performance measurement of actual expenditure.
  • Prepare cost reports, including trend analysis and early warnings as necessary.
  • Lead the best practice financial analysis within your area service delivery unit or area, making recommendations to the business partners, business partner managers and the accountable leads to provide a more efficient and effective service.
  • Support the technical development of the business partners in your service delivery unit or area.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Support the task management of the business partnering team.

  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships with accountable leads, customer budget holders and wider stakeholders, steering and influencing senior leadership to make informed decisions that balance short term priorities
  • Developing confidence and trust in the ability of finance to support business needs.
  • Working collaboratively with the business and other functions to enable the delivery of business plans and objectives.
  • Communicating with impact and providing insight including financial and wider business implications.
  • Providing constructive challenge, scrutiny, insight, and analysis to the Business/Budget Holders on their financial plans and programmes to ensure ambitions are sustainable, aligned to strategy, maximise value for money and are linked to benefits.
  • Support, contribute and review business cases.
  • Engaging with the business and drawing on the required support from the finance function or other functions related to finance.
  • Continuously improve quality of service proactively identifying opportunities through engaging with the local teams, prioritising changes that will add the most value.
  • Delivering improvements in financial awareness and acumen across their business areas.
  • Setting the direction, empowering, inspiring, motivating, and coaching team members to enable effective delivery of objectives and supporting individual's personal development and careers.
  • The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs.

Who are we looking for?

  • Good standard of general education, including business / finance qualification or equivalent or proven level of experience.
  • Stakeholder management skills with ability to collaborate at all levels.
  • Analytical.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, with strong working knowledge of the wider Microsoft Office suite.
