This is a hybrid role with flexibility on location, with travel to our main offices as required.

As the UK’s largest independent full fibre network and wholesale platform of choice, we’re busy setting new standards for what digital infrastructure can and should be.

Our network is greener, more reliable and designed for the future. The products we run over it lead the way on speed, value and service - helping businesses to innovate, communities to thrive, and people to live more connected digital lives.

At CityFibre, you’ll be part of something bigger, helping to build a better-connected Britain, together.

Joining us as Head of Strategic Initiatives Delivery & EPMO

You’ll lead the delivery of some of CityFibre’s most important strategic initiatives, while shaping how we prioritise and deliver change across the wider business. Working closely with our Chief Transformation Officer and senior leaders, you’ll bring the insight and judgement to make clear choices about where we focus our investment and capacity, step in early where delivery is at risk, and build confidence that our strategic priorities are delivering the outcomes and value we expect.

You’ll receive a competitive salary and a performance-related bonus.

This is some of what you can expect to be doing:

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of the Chief Transformation Officer’s strategic initiatives portfolio, with clear accountability for outcomes, early intervention and recovery
  • Create and maintain one executable portfolio plan, recommending what to start, stop, pause, sequence or pivot based on strategic value, capacity, cost, return and delivery confidence
  • Own the portfolio delivery control framework, including standards, stage gates, KPIs, assurance and a Portfolio Delivery Confidence Index, providing forward-looking insight and clear intervention thresholds
  • Partner with Finance and senior Sponsors on business cases, budgets, forecasts, cost to complete, variance and value tracking, intervening early where value or delivery confidence is at risk
  • Run the weekly and monthly enterprise delivery cadence, bringing together Technology, Operations, Finance, People, Architecture, suppliers and business Sponsors to unblock dependencies and resolve material trade-offs
  • Build portfolio delivery capability through strong leadership, coaching and clear standards, while improving PPM and BI tooling, data quality, reporting automation and decision-focused insight

What you’ll bring to the role

You’ll be an established enterprise portfolio or transformation delivery leader, with the commercial judgement, financial fluency and executive credibility to lead through others and turn complex portfolio information into clear decisions.

You’ll also have:

  • Experience leading an enterprise-scale portfolio, EPMO or Strategic Initiatives Office in a complex matrix organisation, with accountability across multiple connected, multi-million-pound programmes
  • A strong track record of making and influencing difficult portfolio decisions, including stopping, pausing or resequencing work, alongside intervening early to recover delivery where confidence or value is at risk
  • Credibility with senior leaders and Sponsors, including the ability to challenge constructively and present concise options, recommendations and consequences
  • Strong financial and commercial capability across business cases, budgeting, forecasting, variance, cost to complete, benefits and return on investment
  • Experience leading and developing senior portfolio, programme, project and PMO professionals, building greater ownership and capability across a delivery function and successfully delivering through others
  • Experience running a regular cross-portfolio delivery cadence and using PPM or BI tooling to improve data quality, integrated reporting and forward-looking insight
