A Senior Executive Service (SES) fixed term contract for up to 5 years is available based at our East Perth office.

What will you be doing?
In this newly created role, you will provide strategic leadership to the operations of the Financial Services Directorate and report directly to the Executive Director Corporate Services.
You will provide high level strategic and technical financial advice on departmental financial, accounting and procurement matters, and act as Chief Finance Officer for the Department in accordance with Section 57 of the Financial Management Act 2006. In addition, you will provide strategic leadership to the teams responsible for the financial, accounting, and procurement planning and reporting, the planning of the Department’s budget preparation and negotiation of corporate budget submissions and the development of strategic initiatives.
Working in close consultation with the Director General and the Executive team, you participate as a member of the DMIRS Executive Leadership Group, you will position the Financial Services Directorate at a strategic level, influence and negotiate outcomes and drive change.
You will bring to the team your extensive experience in managing and delivering strategic financial management and a broad range of Finance services. Your leadership and management experience to enable the achievements of agreed performance outcomes including your high-level stakeholder management and communication skills will also be essential for this role.

What are we looking for?
To be competitive for this role, please submit a detailed resume and a covering letter (of no more than two (2) pages) addressing the following;
- Demonstrated high level experience in managing and delivering strategic financial management and a broad range of Finance services, preferably in a medium to large Government agency and ensuring compliance with the Financial Management Act 2006 and other relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated strategic leadership and management experience to enable the achievements of agreed performance outcomes, including building and maintaining a high level of professional standards within an environment that requires automated and innovative solutions to meet business needs.
- Demonstrated superior stakeholder management communication skills with strong negotiation and consultation experience.
- Possession of a tertiary qualification in finance, commerce, business or equivalent and membership of CPA Australia, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, the National Institute of Accountants or an appropriate recognised overseas accounting body.
