About the job
Job summary
In an ever more dangerous world, it is essential for the Defence and Security of the UK that we understand the adversaries we face and how they operate. We are therefore looking to recruit a Threat Actor Analyst to join our team of subject matter experts.
This role will involve researching, understanding and assessing the military capability of both state and non-state actors, in order to inform wider Dstl analysis and wargaming from an adversarial threat actor perspective. Your work will support scenario focused analysis, which will inform Science and Technology (S&T) development and capability procurement decisions for the Ministry of Defence (MOD).
We are seeking candidates who are self-motivated and inquisitive, ideally with a broad understanding of military capabilities.
We use a variety of quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques to support decision making. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver, with a keenness to develop both their knowledge of UK and international militaries, alongside their analytical skills to deliver impactful analysis products across Defence. While comfort and ability to work with numbers is desirable, it is by no means essential; our crucial requirements are an analytical mind and a desire to learn and develop. If you enjoy working with complex systems, have an interest in developing your knowledge of adversaries and threats, have an appetite for problem solving and a desire to understand how things work, the team wants to hear from you.
Dstl recognises the importance of diversity and inclusion as people from diverse backgrounds bring fresh ideas. We are committed to building an inclusive working environment in which each employee fulfils their potential and maximises their contribution.
We particularly welcome female and ethnic minority applicants and those from the LGBTQI community, as they are under-represented within Dstl at these levels.
