The role involves working within the Capital Projects team at the Airport that delivers Capital projects across the Airport campus. As a Project Development Manager, your role will be to develop and progress Capital Projects from the initial problem/opportunity phase to the Design Phase.
As a Development manager you will support the wider business, in particular the project sponsors (internal clients), in the initial development phase of airport infrastructure projects. Central to the role is the management of project teams and preparation of a detailed business case document used to seek sign off and funding approval for progression of each project to the next stage.
Your role will be to investigate and fully understand the problem or opportunity and manage the development of the solution(s) whilst working with operational, analytical and delivery teams. These solutions can range from process improvements and efficiencies through to infrastructure and new terminal expansion builds.
This role requires a dynamic individual who can work flexibly with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage stakeholders along with time, cost and quality to deliver project objectives.

If you are successful at the first interview, you will be invited to an in person 2nd stage. You will be asked to create a presentation, where you will meet two Development Manager, and another member of the Operations team.
- The development of infrastructure, people, process and system solutions for a variety of identified business needs or opportunities including;
- Acting as the interface for the project between the sponsor and the project delivery team for the successful delivery of the project benefits
- Provide and collate analysis to ensure the problem/opportunity is fully understood at an early stage in project development
- Ensuring a fully developed Business Requirements Document (BRD) is prepared with the wider business and approved by the project sponsor
- Understanding the capital investment required for a project and ensure appropriate guidance given to the project sponsors on alignment within the Capital Investment Plan (CIP), including how the project will contribute to the wider airport strategy by:
- Confirming the business need, strategic context and project benefits as part of the project delivery process
- Working with appropriate internal finance and commercial expertise, to understand, identify and develop key value drivers for projects for inclusion within financial appraisals and briefs
- Option development and appraisal to best meet business requirements
- Setting out and presenting infrastructure, people, processes or systems solutions for projects
- Interfacing with wider stakeholders internally and externally who deliver technology, people and process
- Bringing in appropriate expertise/support and actively leading the process to make recommendations on the preferred solutions (taking into account development value, build-ability, flexibility of use, income potential) to create long term investment and growth
- Application and management of projects through the Edinburgh Airport toll gate process
- Ensure approaches and options are developed/selected/prioritised by application of commercial thinking, best practice, knowledge, appropriate expertise and innovation
- Proactively identify, evaluate and manage: risk, performance criteria (operational & financial), safety, security, sustainability, operability and stakeholder relations at all stages of the solution
- Managing, negotiating with and aligning key stakeholders (both internal and external)
- Ensure that all relevant planning and implementation is undertaken to support a sponsor led stakeholder communication plan
- Support cost planning and management of risk across the project(s)
- Ensure active management of cost and risk throughout the project lifecycle (working with appropriate expertise)
- This role requires the successful candidate to obtain a Counter Terrorist Check, so you must have been living in the UK for the last 3 consecutive years
