An amazing opportunity has arisen to join Freightliner as a totally new grade of train driver. This role offers a package of £85k (Salary + 4 Weekly Supplement) for a 35hr Basic Week, on a 24month assignment period and will be at the forefront of new business within Freightliner. The 24month timeframe then provides the opportunity for both parties to review the continuation of a further assignment. If this isnt suitable you will still be employed by FL as a train driver on Heavy Haul T&C's.
Purpose Of Job
To be a proactive and agile response to the management of customer demand for rail services.
To operate trains in a safe and proper manner in accordance with Railway Group Standards and Company Standards
The standard RDD assignment is intended to operate for a period of no less than 24 months, please refer to terms and conditions of the assignment/employment.
Principle Activities and Accountabilities
Ensure that you are fit for duty before booking on with the control/performance desk Responsible for the safe movement of traction units and Freightliner trains Responsible for learning and retaining knowledge of traction, routes, rules and regulations and operating notices Comply with Freightliner Heavy Haul standards and Railway Group Standards Be vigilant in observing all signals applicable to train movements Submit written reports when requested Road vehicle driving as required Other duties as directed by the relevant Manager Drivers will be required to lodge away from home for extended periods of time. Drivers will be required to undertake mentoring and instructing duties as required. Any driver without the required competency will be upskilled as required.
Specific Safety Responsibilities
This is a safety critical role
Competent in Rules and Regulations.
Knowledge of Freightliner Personal Safety Directives (PSD).
Train Crew Manual (TCM)
Freightliner Operating Instructions (FOI).
Competent in personal track safety.
Competent in driving duties (for the maintenance of competence and clearance of the line in an emergency).
Competent in mentoring and instructing (ROSS)
Experience, Knowledge, Qualifications and Training
Personally up-to-date regarding competence including relevant route/traction knowledge
Fully conversant with all current operating rules, regulations and notices
Good safety related performance record.
Psychometric testing
Full UK Manual Driving licence
Full European Train Driving Licence
Upskilled in mentoring and instructing
