Principal Activities We are looking for a self-motivated person capable of working on own initiative. To organise and carry out the company’s programme of engineering examinations, maintenance events, fault finding, diagnostic checking and repairs of company assets in accordance with company maintenance instructions and procedures. Take the lead role in the absence of a Manager / Supervisor. Lead and give guidance to others within the engineering workplace. Ensure accurate and comprehensive recording of maintenance and defects and to ensure company records are completed and kept up to date in accordance with legislative requirements and company instructions.

Health and Safety This role will require you to work at height so an excellent attitude towards health and safety for both yourself and others is a must. Protect the safety of yourself, colleagues, visitors, contractors or any other person in the vicinity of the workplace with good communications and information about the task to be undertaken. Ensure the safe keeping of your own tools and those owned by the Company. Understand and act upon the legislative requirements of the environmental laws and participate as part of a team to ensure all hazard spills are reported and dealt with appropriately. Ensure that all waste is segregated and disposed of safely into the waste containers provided.

Work Patterns The role is shift work and covers days, nights and weekends. There may be time that you could be required to work on a temporary basis at other designated locations to cover contingencies or emergencies.

Personal Development Participate in personal progressive training to consolidate and expand on existing knowledge to ensure competencies are maintained, be willing to learn and use new skills, keep abreast of engineering technological developments and to achieve new competencies at work and attend training courses as required.

Knowledge and Experience A suitable qualification gained from an electrical or mechanical apprenticeship or NVQ equivalent. Experience of DC drives and motors would be a benefit (but not essential). PLC experience would also be an advantage and have good IT skills.
