Rail Industry Performance Analyst
Freightliner is the UK's largest maritime intermodal logistics operator, transporting containers from all major deep-sea ports to our national network of inland terminals, as well as a leading operator in the UK Heavy Haul rail freight market. In the UK the Freightliner Group operates under a number of legal entities including Freightliner Group Ltd, Freightliner Heavy Haul Ltd, Freightliner Ltd, Pentalver Transport Ltd, and Pentalver Cannock Ltd.
Purpose of the Role:
- To carry out performance and finance related workloads efficiently and effectively, complying with SCO contractual obligations, industry processes and SOX compliance.
- Ensure that all late starts and performance issues are fully investigated and subsequent attribution agreed with Network Rail in line with agreed contractual timescales, liaising with industry contacts as necessary. Ensure that all figures and financial documents are accurate and comply with customer contract and internal regulations.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Work as directed by the Head of Performance and SCO to ensure all delays and performance issues are investigated and agreed with Network Rail within agreed timescales.
- Compile performance reports for both internal and external usage on a daily, weekly and periodical basis.
- Collate performance statistics for Basford Hall LDC for all freight traffic to identify root causes of recurrent performance issues.
- Analyse issues and converse with customer to identify solutions. Examination of Network Rail performance documentation. Cross referencing with internal operational reports to mitigate any delay attribution or financial penalties where possible to Freightliner Heavy Haul.
- Agree all train delay attributions with the customer in order to produce an accurate charge for each train. Where performance failures are agreed as the responsibility of Freightliner Heavy Haul, negotiate the financial cost of any penalties.
- Liaising as necessary with industry partners and suppliers. Must hit all required deadlines. Work as required to ensure that all duties are carried out
Financial
- Focussed on working within budget parameters.
- Ensure claims are submitted and settled within contractual timescales
- Track and report claim values to Performance, Finance, and other relevant business teams.
- Focussed on continuous improvement to enhance efficiencies and effectiveness in the performance team
- Develop and maintain a reporting suite within PowerBI so that performance and future work bank forecasting data on the SCO contract is available

Key job requirements:
- Knowledge of Freightliner operations, railway geography and rail industry structure
- Familiar with train planning software including TOPS/TRUST and NROL planning software.
- Advanced skills in building and maintaining Excel spreadsheets
- Competent in building and maintaining reports in PowerBI
- Ability to convey financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience of negotiating with other stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in line management or supervisory roles.
- Self-motivated, able to work unsupervised and take initiative.
