In the UK the Freightliner Group operates under a number of legal entities including, Freightliner Ltd, Pentalver Transport Ltd, and Pentalver Cannock Ltd.

To produce plan and control the road schedule on a rolling daily basis to ensure that customer requirements are met in accordance with the Company and Statutory Regulations.Ensure service levels are maintained safely and cost effectively.Identify any new business opportunities in order to maintain and improve route profitability.Liaise and communicate with customers (where appropriate) the Senior Transport Manager and Contract Managers to ensure maximum utilisation of the road and rail wagon fleet.Supervise the road motor drivers and sub contractors to ensure work is completed safely and to set standards

Plan the daily road schedule and control it the following day to ensure vehicles are used cost effectively to deliver and collect containers on time.

Continually review the road schedule in the light of information regarding customer priorities and requirements. Maintain regular contact with Contract Managers to keep up to date with customer demands. When problems with deliveries occur, ensure customers are notified promptly and dealt with politely and courteously. Resolve customer problems as a matter of priority.

Supervise the Drivers and Sub Contractors, setting clear standards and monitoring performance to ensure standards are maintained.

Deal with discipline and performance problems promptly and in liaison with the Road Transport Manager.

Maintain regular contact with the Drivers and Sub Contractors to ensure the daily schedule is running smoothly and that deliveries and collections are being made in good time. Keep up to date with whereabouts of Drivers.

When necessary use hired road fleet resources to meet customer requirements and assist the Road Transport Manager in ensuring costs for hired resources are kept to a minimum.

Prepare the drivers start times and ensure overtime worked is kept to a minimum.

Communicate with the Road Transport Manager to identify commercial opportunities in the area.

Maintain contact with customers and Freightliner Limited staff to ensure terminal and regional staff are aware of customer needs and special requirements. Maintain good customer relations through regular communications.

Ensure that all road movements are carried out in conjunction with customer requirements, predicting potential risks with regular contact with drivers in regards to late runners.

Maintain accurate communication with Customers, Contract Managers and Customer Services regarding progress of jobs, container numbers, demurrage claims, and in particular, late runners in accordance with company procedures.

Ensure that drivers are advised of specific customer and job requirements.

Ensure containers from out based depots are set up to cover nights/followings day’s business.

Ensure all legislative requirements are met with regard to driver’s hours on duty and dangerous goods movements etc.

Adhere to a shift roster system that covers the hours that business dictates.

Undertake other duties as directed by the Road Transport Manager commensurate with your post.
