About the role:-
The purpose of the Operations Development Manager (South) is to engage with Network Rail and GTR project and enhancement teams to ensure that GTR is actively involved in projects that will impact on the operation of our services and impact on how we operate.
The role will ensure that GTR needs for changes to train operation take into account the needs of the business to train / brief staff, undertake risk assessments and testing requirements before infrastructure changes are introduced.
The Operations Development Manager is tasked with maximising the availability of the GTR network for Service Delivery and ensuring the risks and challenges around infrastructure is minimised for day-to-day operations.
This role is about developing relationships, driving improvements, holding suppliers to account and ensuring that GTR's interests are protected and that there is a joined-up focus on providing the infrastructure and resources to provide the best service for customers and reduce negative impact on our performance regimes.
The Operations Development Manager will focus on short term delivery agendas but work closely with other members of the Infrastructure and Route teams on medium to long term activities. This role will work closely with Network Rails Operations and Maintenance Managers and with GTR's route teams, Facilities, Projects, Engineering and Operational Planning teams and ASLEF representatives as well as engaging with infrastructure projects and renewals being delivered by Network Rail and GTR.
The Development Manager will be an approachable, visible link for potential third-party funders and opinion formers. They will form funding strategies to maximise customer experience and GTR investment in improving operations and responsible for addressing local stakeholder priorities, working with local communities, and securing third party funding to introduce further investment.
This role will need to ensure there are strong relationships and engagement with route teams, Trade Unions, Training, Engineering and NR and GTR infrastructure and project teams.
