GTR (Govia Thameslink Railway)

GTR (Govia Thameslink Railway)

Govia Thameslink Railway is a train operating company, made up of a family of trusted regional brands - Southern, Gatwick Express, Thameslink and Great Northern. With over 7400 staff, we manage 239 stations and deliver 24% of all passenger rail journeys in the UK.  We’re investing heavily in the infrastructure and technology on our lines, so we can deliver more. More train services, more station improvements and more information (including WIFI) on or platforms. Above all, we want to give our customers and our people more say – to help us create a better rail service for everyone.

Everyone in our team has an important role in delivering a great service to our customers, and to show that we’re with them along their journey. GTR is made up of a variety of roles where we can make a difference to people and communities on our network, from engineering roles and train drivers to station managers. We’re passionate about having a diverse workforce and our goal is to build a culture where we attract, develop and retain talent that is truly representative of the communities we serve, where all colleagues can thrive and be themselves at work, and where everyone feels welcomed, valued and safe.
"I’d like to see more women join the Railway, because it’s an industry for everyone, train driving is for anyone that is committed enough to the job. It’s a great job! There are obviously the perks of a good pension and stability but it’s also a rewarding job. Knowing you’ve got thousands of commuters to work on time is satisfying. It’s always nice when someone says thank you."
