Currently recruiting for a Lead Competency Development Manager - Compliance to be based at Kings Cross

You will be responsible for verification of all competent Driver management assessments, analysing and managing safety performance, proactively manage and resolve competency management issues and support the activities required to deliver the operational aspects of any major project.
Your duties will include:
- Analyses of performance against workload by all assessors within the team, whilst acting as an independent verifier, in line with ORR best practice.
- Acts as MG2 level manager for HR investigations and hearings involving operational factors and directly acts as subject matter expert for driver competency matters, supporting Driver Manager teams.
- Verifies sufficient assessments and works collaboratively with Safety Specialists to ensure performance between assessors is standardised and consistently looks to learn from industry best practice to improve assessment completion.
- Support internal formal investigations and reporting of operational incidents, identifying root causes, and making recommendations to ensure that lessons are learnt
- Provide expert insight (and solutions where required) to the operational aspects of Digital Railway projects, including the coordination of any training required.
- Support the planning and coordination required to deliver fully competent drivers in line with the agreed manpower plan, including liaising with the training school, facilitating the effective deployment of driver instructor resources and the delivery of initial assessments
- Reports on assessment performance, highest risk drivers and other metrics to Head of Department.
- Acts as key owner of the competency system and interrogating reports to ensure incidents are correctly managed, filed and completed fully and in a timely manner.
- Work closely with and support operational managers such as AOM'S & DM's to achieve a high performing and competent workforce
To be successful you will need:
- To be an EU train driving licence holder
- Knowledge of rules, processes and procedures
- Ability to use creative and critical thinking
- Proven ability to take responsibility, analyse situations and apply sound personal judgement in decision making
- Demonstration of the application of safety knowledge
- Good influencing skills that ensure a positive outcome
