About the role:-
At Southern, we are looking at the opportunities of combining our training and competency development teams to drive an evolution in our provision of driver training. We have a proud record of recruiting and training the next generation of train drivers through a recognised apprenticeship programme, which is the foundation our new Driver Training Development Manager will build upon. This role, new to our business, will undertake a root and branch review of our training material and methods, and identify ways to make the programmes for new apprentices and qualified drivers as inspiring and engaging as possible, exploiting available and new technology. Our target is delivering an industry-leading train driver course for apprentices and providing valued and industry-leading development centre activities for our qualified drivers, supplemented by a widely accessible online learning environment of training material and standards for all of our managers and drivers.
Selhurst operations training centre will become the heart of our training activity and known as a destination and centre for competency development for all Southern driver and
manager teams. The Driver Training Development Manager will work closely with the Apprenticeship Specialist, Operations Training Manager and Driver Training Managers to develop inspiring, time efficient and high value course materials and undertake a process of continuous internal review and Development.
Can you bring the following experience and qualifications to this role?
- This role is highly suited to a qualified train driver and an opportunity to maintain competency would be provided within the role. However, candidates with lapsed competency or significant alternative competency knowledge in railway operations may be suitable.
- This role requires high levels of computer literacy and experience in computer design packages, creating training materials and using the suite of Microsoft Office,
photoshop and an understanding of computer interfaces are essential. - This role requires confidence in understanding training delivery methods.
- This role requires the postholder to have a high level of ability to utilise technology(software and hardware)
