Purpose of Role:
- The Cloud & Platform Architect will serve as technical authority for cloud and platforms environments within Harbour Energy and SME for both our public cloud ecosystem of partners, business users and other IS teams, along with associated traditional Infrastructure vendors
- The role will receive functional, technical, and administrative guidance from the Platform, Cloud and Identity Manager so experience with identity also, is highly beneficial
- This role will support the migration and/or transformation of existing services to the cloud, working with product owners to understand their needs and act as a source of expertise to help them come up with their own plan and budget to migrate their products to the cloud
- The Cloud and Platform Architect is responsible for discovering the cloud and platform requirements across all projects and product lines. They will define the standards supporting these activities and the growth of Harbour Energy cloud and platforms
Critical Responsibilities (MAE/MATTE/HSES*):
Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.

Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:
- Responsible for advising and delivering on strategic cloud migration engagements, applying technical expertise in cloud services to promote innovative solutions within IS and to the business, developing relationships with key stakeholders, and helping them achieve their business goals
- Analyses and communicates the impact of, and interdependent components, of Cloud based migration or transformation of systems and services. Specifically focused on end user impact, performance considerations and underlying system interfaces
- Understands the technical, financial, and organisational/process requirements/constraints of the business, working closely with multiple IS teams to strategically adopt cloud-enabled solutions, balancing risk and cost against on-prem traditional infrastructure implementations where necessary
- Envisions and architects new innovative solutions on/across cloud platforms, primarily in Azure and other private/public IaaS/PaaS platforms, as per project and product specifications and needs
- Evaluates opportunities and build business cases
- Understands and develops complex solutions that can innovate the Harbour technology stack
- Takes clear technology/ domain / innovation ownership for the cloud hosting required relative to Microsoft Azure architecture and provides expert level technical support to improve processes
- Maintains Company IS standards, Architecture principals, Strategy, Roadmap and use cases, taking guidance from the Platform, Cloud and Identity Manager and the Enterprise Architect
- Validates solution alignment to regulatory compliance
- Provides input and defines both the strategic direction and roadmap for the full life cycle of design, development, operation, and support of both on-prem Infrastructure and Cloud based systems and services
- Any other duty as per instruction by Platform, Cloud and Identity Manager
Critical Skills*, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:
- Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills
- Strong Industry, domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units
- Ability to make decisions based on experience and gain support for major initiatives
- In depth knowledge of current and emerging technologies and their potential application for service and product offerings
- Ability to analyse and operate at various levels of abstraction, while balancing what is strategically right with what is practically realistic
- Excellent technical architecture skills, enabling the creation of future-proof, complex global solutions
- Maintains close awareness of new and emerging technologies and their potential application for service offerings and products.
- Significant IT experience, with substantial experience in cloud/platform/information system design. Oil and gas experience is preferred
- Organisationally savvy, able to navigate challenges, influence and persuade effectively
- Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations
- Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
- Extensive IT industry experience in Infrastructure (server/storage/domain services preferred over networking) and a minimum of 5 years of Cloud services experience
- Experience in a solution architecture role using service and hosting solutions such as private/public cloud IaaS, PaaS and SaaS platforms
- Experience in architecting and designing technical solutions leveraging Microsoft Azure IaaS, PaaS and SaaS capabilities.
- Knowledge of authentication (SAML/OAuth/OIDC), MFA, IAM, IGA and RBAC Knowledge of cloud security controls including tenant isolation, encryption at rest, encryption in transit, key management, vulnerability assessments, application firewalls, SIEM, etc.
- Experience building and supporting mission critical technology components with DR capabilities
- Experience with multi-tier system and service design and development for large enterprises
- Extensive, real-world experience designing technology components for enterprise solutions and defining solution architectures and reference architectures with a focus on cloud technologies.
