Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2021 and beyond, we are currently seeking an IT Network Security Specialist to join HSBC Technology.

Overview

IT Network Security specialist who will be working as part of the Edge Perimeter Security team within Telecom Services. This resource will be responsible for network layer 3 / 4 DDoS protections, layer 7 application protections across our critical web services, regulatory based IPv6 deployments, as well as our Internet connectivity and ISP DDoS protections. Akamai is utilized for our cloud DDoS protection as well as our layer 7 protection. Radware DDoS protectors are utilized for the on-premise solution. IPv6 also uses Akamai Kona, while we deliver a dual stack IPv6 implementation.

Good team collaboration and use of communication tools is expected (Email, IM, video/audio calls, Conferencing via Zoom). The team is adopting an agile working approach with regular stand-ups and task management. Individuals are expected to be self-sufficient and would be empowered to do so but also work as part of a team.

What you will be doing;

• Working with and driving agile methodologies within the team.
• Deliver secure, resilient and stable environments for our HSBC services by delivering DDoS, Application Layer protections, and highly available internet connectivity.
• Manage vendor relationships to ensure delivery of services to our customers.
• Work with vendor Akamai, internal application and business teams, cyber and our telecom team to deliver WAF/BOT protections
• Deliver and enhance our existing processes around on premise configuration across our F5, DNS, and routing and switching environments.
• Continuous development and implementation of control enhancements
• Deliver consistent controls and reporting across both on-premise and cloud services.
• Create documentation for the team which is helpful to do the job
• Ensure Service Delivery Targets are met for services
• Work on incident & problem management, permanent issue fix and production support
• Develop automation capabilities to reduce infrastructure complexity and manual effort
• Collaborate and communicate with business stakeholders, IT and Cyber teams
• Planning, conception and implementation in case of maintenance activities
